Local deputies of Transnistria appealed to the Federation Council and the State Duma of Russia with a request to implement measures to protect Transnistria in the context of “increasing pressure from Moldova.” This decision was made by local deputies of Transnistria at the congress on February 28.
Local deputies also appealed to the OSCE, the CIS, the European Parliament, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN Secretary General with a call to “influence the leadership of Moldova to return to an adequate dialogue and stop the violation of the rights and freedoms of the residents of Transnistria.”
In a statement, local deputies noted that Moldova had unleashed an “economic war” against the unrecognized PMR, and also accused Chisinau of deliberately blocking negotiations with Tiraspol. Let us note that from the beginning of 2024, Chisinau has abolished customs benefits for Pridnestrovian entrepreneurs. This caused a sharp reaction from Tiraspol. Krasnoselsky called the duties a “medieval tribute”; the regional authorities organized protests in Tiraspol against the actions of Chisinau (more about the duties

Let us remind you that on February 28, the “Congress of Deputies of All Levels” was held in Tiraspol. It was attended by deputies of the local legislative body and local district, city and rural deputies, deputies of the first convocation of the local legislative body, representatives of the local executive body and the leader of the unrecognized PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky. This is the seventh such congress. The last one took place in 2006, then local deputies decided to hold a referendum on joining Russia. In the same year, such a referendum took place and more than 90% of the participants voted for the entry of the unrecognized PMR into Russia. The international community and Chisinau did not recognize the results of the referendum.
At the fifth such congress, deputies adopted the fundamental law of Transnistria (“Constitution”), and the first four “congresses” were devoted to declaring the independence of the unrecognized PMR
Before the seventh congress, opposition politician of the Left Bank Gennady Chorba suggested that local deputies could use the congress to appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to accept the unrecognized PMR into Russia. However, this information was denied in Chisinau, Kyiv and Tiraspol. The expert community on both banks of the Dniester also considered such a scenario unlikely.
