The Bulgarian Air Force (BBC) might be flying surplus Greek F-16 Block 52 Fighting Falcon jets, according to Greek media. A special request has been sent by the US to temporarily rent out 6 to 8 jets to the Bulgarians, while the BBC has to wait for the arrival of newer US F-16s.

The Vipers are meant to supplement or replace the aging remainging four MiG-21bis’s and a single MiG-21UM of 1/3 Iztrebitelna Avio Eskadrila based at the BBC’s Graf 3 Air Base of Ignatievo.

If the Greek F-16s will be leased, an upgrade and overhaul might take place which in turn would generate extra income to Greek industries.

Kreikkalaiset taisivat saada lämmintä kättä moskovasta, joten nyt joutuvat taipumaan tuossa asiassa.
