An Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed Thursday night in Assam. The air force jet that crashed was a Sukhoi Su-30. The Su-30 MKI fighter jet was on a routine training mission when it crashed in the paddy field in the Milanpur area and burst into flames at around 8:30 pm.

The two pilots flying the fighter safely ejected from the jet and were rescued. One of the pilots suffered injury in his leg, defence spokesperson Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande said.

A Court of Inquiry will investigate the cause of the crash, the Indian Air Force said.

Intian poliisi on ampunut neljä joukkoraiskauksesta epäiltyä miestä maan eteläosan Hyderabadissa. Miesten epäiltiin raiskanneen ja surmanneen 27-vuotiaan naisen viikkoa aiemmin.

Joukkoraiskaustapaus on kuohuttanut Intiaa ja nostattanut mielenosoituksia eri puolilla maata.

Poliisiviranomaisen mukaan miehet ammuttiin, kun poliisi oli epäiltyjen kanssa rikospaikalla lavastamassa naisen surmaan johtaneiden tapahtumien kulkua uudelleen ja miehet yrittivät paeta.

Poliisin mukaan epäillyt olivat yrittäneet napata poliiseilta aseita. Seuranneessa laukaustenvaihdossa poliisi oli ampunut epäillyt ja kaksi poliisia oli haavoittunut.

Poliisi ei tarkentanut, kuinka monta poliisia oli mukana vartioimassa epäiltyjä tai olivatko nämä olleet käsiraudoissa.

Videos of the violence quickly spread via WhatsApp and were then broadcast on television, sparking shock and outrage.

Protests are taking place in the cities of Chandigarh, Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad as well as the capital Delhi.

Police have begun a probe and say they have identified some of the assailants.

The cause of the attack is still unclear. But the JNU student union blamed Sunday's violence on the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a right-wing student body linked to India's governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Intian parlamentti hyväksyi lakiesityksen, joka antaa nopeutetun tien kansalaisuuteen ei-muslimeille.

Itse en näe tarvetta tälläiselle uskonnolliselle jaottelulle (nähdäkseni on hyvä, että valtio ei suosi mitään uskontokuntaa), mutta jos Intian miljardipäinen kansa toteaa, että on heidän etujensa mukaista suosia muita uskontoja kuin islamia, niin mikäpä minä olen heitä tuomitsemaan. Intialaisilla on oikeus demokraattisen järjestelmänsä kautta toteuttaa arvojensa mukaista politiikkaa.
 
Intiassa hinduenemmistö ja muslimivähemmistö ovat ottaneet yhteen. Ainakin 42 ihmistä on kuollut ja 300 on vakavasti loukkaantunut. Hindujen ja muslimien välit ovat kiristyneet Modin kansalaisuuslainsäädäntöön tekemien muutoksien myötä. Muutoksien myötä kansalaisuuden kannalta etusijalla ovat muut uskonnot kuin islam. Toivottavasti jatkossa vältytään väkivallalta.

The news follows the death of another Dalit woman, 19, on Tuesday after an alleged gang rape by upper-caste men.

Dalits are at the bottom of the caste system. Despite laws to protect them, they face widespread discrimination.

Both attacks took place in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. News of the first sparked protests in the streets in the state.

Police have registered complaints of rape and murder and arrested two men in connection with the latest case, which took place in Balrampur district.
The earlier attack happened some 500km (310 miles) away in Hathras district. The victim was grievously injured and died in a Delhi hospital on Tuesday after fighting for her life for two weeks.

If the US has concerns about procurements from Russia, the latter is also upset over military equipment we are importing from the US,” a senior government official said on condition of anonymity.
