US ready to offer F-35 JSF stealth jet to India

Washington is prepared to offer India its latest F-35 Lightning II stealth combat aircraft, otherwise known as the Joint Strike Fighter, according to India’s IANS news agency, after U.S. companies lost a tender earlier this year to sell 126 fighter aircraft to Delhi.

If India is interested in the JSF, the United States is prepared to supply information about the aircraft as part of the sales process, according to a Pentagon report on cooperation with India presented to Congress.

Tällä kertaa tipahti Sukhoi.

This is the third crash of the Russian origin Su-30 fighter planes since they were inducted into the IAF in 1997. Today’s crash is the eighth mishap involving IAF fighter aircraft this year. Seven MiG series aircraft had crashed earlier this year. Before the SU-30 accident, a MiG-21 Bison had crashed in Sirsa in Haryana on 2 December.

Jos tuon linkin teksti pitää paikkansa; tolkuttomasti on koneita ja miehiä mennyt viime aikoina:

"During last three years, the IAF has lost 30 fighter aircraft and 10 helicopters in various crashes. 26 defence personnel including 13 pilots have lost their lives in these crashes along with six civilians on the ground."

Salaliittoteoreetikko voisi tietenkin väittää tuollaisen olevan tahallista... aina kun kone tipahtaa niin Intialaiset joutuvat ostamaan uuden koneen tilalle :a-cool:

India to buy 42 'upgraded' Sukhoi-30 from Russia

The new version is expected to include a new cockpit, an upgraded radar and certain stealth features to avoid radar detection. Significantly, the upgraded Sukhoi-30 MKIs will be able to carry a heavier weapons load, especially the airborne version of the Brahmos cruise missile. India is also looking to upgrade most of its SU-30 MKIs in the long run.

The deal, estimated at over Rs 20,000 crore, will be operational in three years with the first delivery expected in 2014 and the last by 2018. Once the 42 aircraft are inducted, the total strength of SU-30 MKI fleet will go up to 272. It may be noted that by 2017, India plans to phase out 120 MiG 21s and with the MMRCA still not a done deal, the SU-30 MKI fleet will be the mainstay.

Shelterless Sukhois suffering from sunstroke?
BANGALORE: Sukhois (Su-30 MKI) don’t have shelters. India’s frontline fighters are suffering from a possible sunstroke. This came to light after Express launched an investigation following the fighter’s crash near Pune recently. Along with a list of suspects — Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (blamed for serious quality issues), the Russians (whose design flaws are under scanner ) — the Indian Air Force (IAF) will have to do some answering for “exposing” the fighters.

MMRCA Jet Deal Results Expected In Three Weeks
It is understood that the lowest bidder in India's medium multirole combat aircraft (M-MRCA) competition will be declared in the third week of January 2012. After bids of the two finalist contenders -- Dassault's Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon -- were opened on November 4, it has been hectic work by the committee distilling a winner out of the closely fought final battle, a process that's still very much on.

Bihar, January 3 (ANI): Security forces shot dead three hardcore Maoists and arrested one, during a six-hour gun battle in a forest in Rohtas District of Bihar on Monday night. Police also recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition from the rebels. Despite strong measures initiated by the central government to eradicate the ultras, the Maoist insurgency has gripped nearly one-third of the country in its violent tentacles, spreading into the interiors of 20 of India's 28 states.
