The United States Army reported this evening (Thursday) that “18 ISIS leaders” have been eliminated since the start of the month in airstrikes conducted in Iraq and Syria. According to the report, 13 of the senior-level members of the terror organization were killed in attacks on the city of Mosul in Iraq.
Colonel John Dorrian, a spokesman for U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria, stated during a Pentagon briefing that amongst the ISIS leaders that were targeted were military commanders, foreign fighter facilitators and communication leaders.
“We removed ISIS deputy military Emir Abu Jannat,” Dorrian wrote on twitter. “He was responsible for military operations around Mosul and manufacturing chemical weapons.”

“Daesh is under consistent pressure and will try to reconstitute. We’re not going to let them,” Dorrian added, ending his post with the tag #defeatdaesh. According to Dorrian, the U.S. is continuing its attacks in order to defeat the terror organization’s forces on the ground, mostly in Mosul.
Meanwhile, progress has also been made in other Iraqi cities like Al-Sharqat, where local police will regain control over the city after it was recently freed from the hands of terrorist, and Manbij, where forces on the ground have cooperated in order to transfer humanitarian aid to citizens.
