Kamerunin armeija boko haramin kimpussa viime viikolla.

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter aircraft on Sunday repelled a Boko Haram attack on Nigerian troops in Kangarwa, northern Borno State. In a statement on Monday signed by Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, Director of Public Relations & Information, NAF said its action comprised three fighter jets and a reconnaissance aircraft which swung into action following a report about the militant attack.
“While the fighter aircraft were scrambled to repel the attack, the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft was deployed to give guidance to ground troops on the position equipment and strength of the BHTs,” the report said.

Famuyiwa said the NAF response began at about 5p.m. and lasted until about 7:15pm before the attack was successfully repelled.

He also disclosed that prior to repelling the attack at Kangarwa, NAF had conducted some day and night operations at Kashimeri, Tumbu Gini, Chukugudu and other strongholds from where the insurgents launch attacks on Bama and neighbouring settlements.

Authorities in Cameroon say a helicopter fighting the Boko Haram insurgency has crashed on the border with Nigeria, killing six people including the commander of this central African nation’s troops.

Midjiyawa Bakari, governor of the far north region of Cameroon, confirmed that General Jacob Kodji died on Sunday evening near the village of Bogo while on an inspection mission. Three other top officials and two crew members also died.

A multinational force has been fighting Boko Haram extremists who have expanded their deadly insurgency beyond Nigeria and into neighboring countries in the Lake Chad region.

Kodji was a top Cameroonian military official in the fight against the insurgents. He had been appointed 17 months ago by President Paul Biya

Huomaa kyllä että ISIS on organisoidumpi. Boko Haramin sisäisen vallankaappauksen jälkeen, jossa aiempi johtaja Shekau poistettiin ja vaihdettiin ISIS:n henkilö tilalle, tuosta ryhmästä on tullut taas päänvaiva. Ennen vallanvaihtoa hehän olivat saarrettu ja nälissään. Tosin ei Nigerian armeijan toimintaakaan voi kehua...

This week we present a four part series on Boko Haram. From its base in northern Nigeria, the terrorist organization has targeted Muslims and Christians alike. Boko haram members hide behind masks. But now VOA has exclusively obtained secret videos shot by Boko Haram that identify operatives committing acts of terror, and which reveal a power struggle. Vincent interviews Ibrahim Ahmed, VOA Hausa Service.
