UAV / UCAV / LAR (robotit) Uutiset ja jutut

Multirotor drones are significantly more popular than conventional helicopter designs for many reasons, which do not include efficiency. Making use of the aerodynamic effects behind this, [Nicholas Rehm] was able to significantly increase the efficiency of his experimental tricopter by turning it into one large spinning propeller.

Since aerodynamic drag is proportional to velocity, a small, high-RPM propeller will require more power to produce the same thrust as a large, low-RPM propeller. With this in mind, [Nicholas] built a tricopter that can rotate all three long arms together using a single servo, giving it very aggressive yaw control. By attaching a wing to each of the arms, it becomes a large variable pitch propeller powered by tip thrusters.

uusin androidi malli, vaikka ne puhuu tästä humanoidina

mielenkiintoinen konsepti ja voisin väittää, että on ensimmäinen kerta kun näen realistisen läpytyksen. Varjokin näyttää linnulta.

Tekstin käännös: Here is the Iranian drone launch kit.

The Military Censor allowed Israeli media to publish one of the country’s worst-kept secrets last week — that the Israel Defense Forces uses armed drones as part of its offensive capabilities.

For at least two decades, the IDF refused to confirm widespread reports that it deploys armed UAVs. Attempts to write about the drones were quashed by the IDF’s censor.

Elbit ja IAI luultavasti laittavat pitkävedot sisään Suomen markkinakyselyssä, joten sen myötä voisi tulla julki. Ellei satu olemaan juuri niitä (kuten Hermes 900), joita on jo myyty ympäriinsä aseitta.

The FH-95 series drone has a ton-class takeoff weight, can carry more than 250 kg of a wide selection of mission payloads, and has an endurance of more than 24 hours. In addition to traditional missions like armed reconnaissance, border patrol and maritime surveillance, the FH-95 electronic warfare drone can work in a formation with other types of drones, providing electronic jamming and cover for the latter as they conduct other missions, the magazine said.

Contemporary popular drones are mainly designed for reconnaissance and attack roles, so a drone capable of electronic warfare will provide a new dimension to drone deployment, a Beijing-based military expert who requested anonymity told the Global Times on July 26: in a possible combat scenario, the FH-95 drone could conduct electromagnetic interference first, providing cover for the FH-97, a high-speed stealth drone, to penetrate and destroy hostile defense lines. The FH-92A, a type of traditional armed reconnaissance drone, can then conduct follow-up attacks, the Global Times learned from the ATFTC.

The FH-95 series drone completed its first test flight in 2017, was delivered to a key client in 2019, and received its first export contract in 2021, according to Unmanned Vehicles. A new variant in the FH-95 series has been carrying out test flights in a test base in Northwest China recently, the report said, without giving more details, Liu Xuanzun writes.

Mankind's new best friend is coming to the U.S. Space Force.

The Space Force has conducted a demonstration using dog-like quadruped unmanned ground vehicles (Q-UGVs) for security patrols and other repetitive tasks. The demonstration used at least two Vision 60 Q-UGVs, or "robot dogs," built by Ghost Robotics and took place at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on July 27 and 28.

According to a statement (opens in new tab) from the Department of Defense, Space Launch Delta 45 will use the robot dogs for "damage assessments and patrol to save significant man hours." The unit is responsible for all space launch operations from Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral.

At a military convention in Russia, a local company is showing off a robot dog that’s carrying a rocket launcher.

Russian news agency RIA Novosti today filmed(Opens in a new window) the four-legged bot at the Army 2022 convention, which is taking place near Moscow and sponsored by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

U.S. Air Force is looking to finally make real progress on acquiring a new aerial target drone that can act as a surrogate for stealthy fifth and near-fifth generation fighter jets operated by potential adversaries, such as China's J-20 and Russia's Su-57. This comes as the service appears to be moving toward winding up purchases of QF-16 Viper Full Scale Aerial Target (FSAT) drones, which are converted from retired F-16 fighters, with one of two conversion lines recently shutting down entirely.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio posted a request for information (RFI) regarding a supersonic-capable Next Generation Aerial Target (NGAT) online on July 28. AFLCMC then issued a revised version of the RFI on August 19, based on responses to questions from prospective contractors. An aerial target drone, like the proposed NGAT, is typically used for the testing and evaluation of air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles, countermeasures, radars, and other sensors, as well as simulating various aerial threats during regular training and larger exercises.
