The investigations of the fires in Israel continue. At this stage, 24 suspects are under arrest. The police say that 18 of them are Arab-Israelis with 2 admitting to arson.

Until now, a total of 37 suspects have been arrested and 13 were released. The Israeli police has started investigations regarding 233 fires suspected of arson.

At this stage, 45 cases of suspected arson and 5 cases of suspected incitement on Facebook are being investigated, 3 of which are Jews and 2 Arabs.

The Oz Brigade, the IDF's new commando brigade, held this past week its third training exercise since its founding last December. The drill involved many missions, beginning in northern Tel Aviv and ending in the Galilee and Golan Heights. With the completion of this drill, the brigade became operational.


The commando brigade was established as part of the multi-year program "Gideon" with the intention of creating a cutting edge unit within the IDF. Under Colonel David Zini's command, the brigade includes the following IDF's elite ground force units: Maglan, Duvdevan, Egoz, and Rimon.

During the past year, the commando brigade went through a significant journey operationally and organizationally. The brigade held many training exercises that included unit and divisional training and tests in order to certify as commando combat soldier. Also during the year, the following units were added to the commando brigade division: a new military medical unit, a technology development unit and reserve units for Maglan and Duvdevan. In addition, the process of establishing headquarters for the division is still being completed.

"This week includes various paths and configurations," said Zini to his soldiers on the eve of their training exercise. "We, the commando combat soldiers, must always be able to quickly switch between different combat formations during changing situations. I am proud to be a part of this group and I think this sends a strong message about Israel's security and especially to our enemies."

A day after the incident in the Golan Heights, the IDF struck a compound belonging to ISIS-affiliated terrorists. During the night, the Israeli Air Force attacked the compound in southern Syria near the border with Israel.

The IDF announced this morning (Monday) that after an IDF patrol unit was fired at yesterday from Syria along the southern Golan Heights border, the Israeli Air Force attacked a target in Syria during the night. Based on the army's report, the IAF attacked an ISIS facility in the southern part of the Golan Heights on the Syrian side.


According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, the target was an abandoned military facility that was in the past used by the UN. This facility was the site from which the terrorists planned and attacked the IDF unit. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated, "This was a defensive attack after yesterday's assault on our soldiers, aimed at preventing the terrorists from returning to the compound in order to decrease the significant threat they pose in the area."

"The IDF will continue to protect the residents of Israel while maintaining its freedom to act within Israel's sovereign borders without hesitation to take action against terror organizations," added the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

Yesterday morning, ISIS-affiliated terrorists opened fired at an IDF patrol unit along the southern border of the Golan Heights. The Israeli soldiers returned fire with the assistance of IAF aircraft dispatched to their location, striking and eliminating the four terrorists. There were no IDF casualties

The IAF aircraft dispatched to the scene fired at the terrorists’ vehicle that was equipped with a heavy machine gun. As per protocol, the IDF launched a search and investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Initial inquiries indicate that the ISIS-affiliated terrorists were from a group known as the Yarmouk Martyr's Brigade, an Islamist extremist organization that has pledged its allegiance to ISIS and is located in the southern Golan Heights in Syria. Until yesterday, there had been no formal attack against the IDF by the terrorist group, though IDF surveillance had previously spotted their presence in the area.

The incident along the Syrian-Israeli border yesterday (Sunday) serves as a reminder of the increased ISIS threat Israel is facing from the Syrian side of the Golan Heights. The terror cell that fired at an IDF patrol unit yesterday was part of the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, a terrorist organization that was formed when three rebel groups merged in May 2016 and swore allegiance to ISIS.


The Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade

This Salafi group was established in 2012 and was responsible for the kidnapping of the 21 Filipino UN soldiers in March 2013. In 2015, the group swore allegiance to ISIS. Most of the group’s activities take place in Jamla, a Syrian village in the southern Golan Heights. It is believed that the group has about 1,000 members.

The Army of Jihad

The Army of Jihad was formed in 2015 when 7 small independent factions that defected from al-Nusra Front joined forces. Most of the group’s activities take place in the Quneitra Governorate near the Israeli-Jordanian-Syrian border. The group has about 400 members.

The Islamic Muthanna Movement

This group was established in 2012. In 2015, the group pledged allegiance to ISIS. The Islamic Muthanna Movement is mainly active in the Daraa Governorate and has about 600 members.

A recent study conducted by the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel suggests the higher-than-average life expectancy among Israeli males is a consequence of their compulsory 32-month service in the IDF.

Research carried out by Prof. Alex Weinreb indicated that service in the army contributes to Israeli men’s physical fitness, which, in turn, significantly improves their overall health and life expectancy.

Data from more than 130 OECD countries analyzed by Weinreb showed that male populations in countries with a mandatory military service lived on average three years longer than their non-conscripted counterparts.

An ISIS senior-level official in Sinai was interviewed today (Thursday) by ISIS' media outlets. He threatened Israel and claimed that Israel is actively attacking ISIS in Sinai.

"Israel is attacking our branch in Sinai with aerial attacks and with the most sophisticated technology it has but it lacks the intelligence," stated Abu Hajar al-Hashemi, who was presented as ISIS' leader in Sinai. "We are getting closer to its border every day."

"The Jews don't understand the Sinai reality,” said Abu Hajar. “They spend vast funding on securing their artificial fence but they forgot that God's decree is that their homes will be destroyed. We will not spare any means to exterminate the abominations and we will prevent the infidels- the Jews and Christians- from distributing the abominations in the lands of the Muslims."

Abu Hajar also called for new recruits to join the ISIS branch in Sinai, especially from Gaza and even addressed Hamas' armed branch, which is fighting ISIS in Gaza, directly: "Do you not know that a person who does not rule by Sharia laws is an infidel, even if he prays, fasts and fights the Jews?"

Earlier this week, Pakistan announced that it is ready to send ground forces to Syria to assist against ISIS. In the fake report, Ya’alon is quoted to have said: “As far as we are concerned, that is a threat. If they arrive in Syria, we will know what to do-we will destroy them with a nuclear attack."

This Female IDF Soldier Fought Off 23 Terrorists in Surprise Attack

Captain Or Ben-Yehuda of the Israeli Defense Forces has cemented a legacy that will endure well past her lifetime. The young, decorated IDF Captain was in charge of a company of soldiers when they were violently attacked by nearly two dozen terrorists near the Egyptian border.
Due to her leadership and bravery, she and her men were able to survive.

Captain Ben-Yehuda was in charge of the Caracal Battalion which was stationed near the Israeli / Egyptian border.
Three suspicious vehicles quickly approached the battalion’s position and Captain Ben-Yehuda along with a driver went to check them out.

As they approached the first vehicle, nearly two dozen armed men opened fire on their position in an ambush attack.
Both Captain Ben-Yehuda and her driver were immediately shot in the volley of gunfire.

Despite suffering from a gunshot wound, Captain Ben-Yehuda managed to get on the radio and call for backup, administer first aid to her driver and return several magazines worth of gunfire back at her attackers.

Backup, in the form of several vehicles full of IDF soldiers, arrived on scene, the wounded Captain commanded the responding soldiers and positioned her men to effectively fight back the terrorists.

At this point it was obvious the IDF was going to be able to push back the armed group, and medical personnel wanted to evacuate Captain Ben-Yehuda to treat her gunshot wounds. However, she was unwilling to leave the battlefield until all of the fighting was done.


For her actions and bravery, Captain Ben-Yehuda was awarded Israel’s highest honor, the Medal of Valor.
After she recovered from her injuries, a special awards ceremony was held in which a surprise guest showed up, Captain Ben-Yehuda’s mother. A decorated IDF soldier in her own right, she presented the award to her daughter.

Her mother, Emma Dina Ben-Yehuda, was a decorated IDF officer who served in the Yom Kippur War.
She was also honored later for her work with grieving families of IDF soldiers killed in the line of duty.
