Hezbollah has 10,000 fighters in Syria ready to confront Israel, commander says
Iranian-backed Lebanese terror group is an army with 'infantry, rockets, tanks, elite forces,' building tunnels, military bases for future war

Hezbollah has more than 10,000 fighters in southern Syria ready to confront Israel, a commander for the Iranian-backed Lebanese terror group has said.

“Hezbollah has over 10,000 fighters deployed in southern Syria. Hezbollah is an army of infantry, rockets, tanks, elite forces,” the Hezbollah official told the Middle East Eye website this week, amid tensions surrounding the shooting down by the Israeli Air Force on Tuesday of an Iranian-built drone launched by the group as it attempted to cross into airspace.

The commander said the fighters were based in areas surrounding the Golan Heights and that tunnels and military bases were being built for a possible confrontation with Israel

“We are operating as we do in south Lebanon, but of course in a veiled manner,” he said.

Speaking of the truce in southern Syria, under the auspices of Russia and the United Nations, the commander said that the “de-escalation plan is better for us. We are working with more freedom, there are no more bombings.”

The commander said that the next war with Israel may start from Syria but “what really matters is where will it end, will it be in Netanya, Haifa or Kiryat Shmona?”

An Iraqi cleric recently praised the Jewish people for having emerged from the Holocaust following World War II and managed to win the “respect of the world through science,” while Muslims are seen as having become “the world’s headache.”

In a sermon posted to YouTube last month titled “Don’t Be Mad. Strong Words. Imitate the Jews in This,” and translated this week by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Shiite cleric Salam Al-Askari said that after suffering in Europe during the Holocaust, where “Nazis killed and burned them” and they were “killed in droves,” the Jews, he said, “put their greatest minds into science” and “made the entire world kneel before them, and accept and respect the Jewish nation.”

IDF reveals cause of August helicopter crash: Improper installation of joystick
According to the interim report regarding the Apache helicopter crash in August, the joystick that controlled the tail rotor was installed improperly and thus broke off while the helicopter was in flight. The problem severely impacted the pilot’s ability to control and land the aircraft. However, his actions saved his co-pilot’s life.

The IDF released its interim report regarding the Apache helicopter crash in which Maj. (res.) Dudi Zohar was killed and another pilot was seriously injured. The crash occurred at Ramon Air Base about a month and a half ago. The findings of the preliminary investigation indicated that the pilots returned to the base in order to attempt an emergency landing due to a malfunction with the steering system. However, Zohar lost control of the helicopter and crashed.

According to the interim report’s findings, the steering system problem was the result of a joystick’s improper installation. The report concluded that Zohar remained calm during the incident despite the extreme situation and was able to bring the helicopter back to the base, which saved his co-pilot’s life. “We don’t know of any other team in the world that has dealt with such a situation,” the investigators wrote in their report.

About 45 minutes after the helicopter took off from the base, the joystick that controlled the tail rotor broke off, which seriously damaged the pilot’s ability to control the aircraft. The report concluded that there are problems with the installation guidelines for the joysticks and the IDF has contacted Boeing regarding the issue. “We met with the manufacturer and the US Army,” the report read. “This type of incident has never happened in the air.”

The Israeli Air Force has decided to return the Apache helicopters to operations after all of them were inspected following the crash. However, the investigation into the incident continues while the investigators are focusing on whether it was possible to recognize the issue with the joystick prior to the crash.

Two Elbit Skylark drones crashed Monday during IDF activities in Hebron and Bethlehem. Both of the UAVs were recovered by soldiers and no classified information was leaked from them.

However, in light of the two separate incidents, Commander of GOC Army Headquarters Major-General Kobi Barak decided to ground all Elbit Skylark drones until the initial investigations into the crashes have been completed.

In July, an Elbit Skylark drone crashed in the Gaza Strip. While the UAV was recovered by Hamas terrorists, the IDF explained that there was no cause for concern because the drone was equipped with a special system that deleted all the classified material stored on it.

A large quantity of military-grade weaponry and ammunition was reportedly stolen from an emergency military armory in northern Israel. Soldiers from the 601st Battalion discovered the breach and immediately reported the missing equipment to their commanders.

The Military Police opened an investigation which subsequently revealed that among the stolen equipment were 2,970 5.56 mm diameter bullets, 96 40mm diameter bullets, two 29 mines, 10 M16 detonators, 56 land mines and more. The suspects also stole the chain and lock from the container's door.

The investigation also revealed that during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, no wall was set up around the bunker's perimeter. On Rosh Hashana, none of the soldiers were in place to guard the armory and on Sunday, the soldier on guard duty took up a position inside of the base, instead of at the designated post next to the bunker. The guards were also found to have been without the necessary combat equipment and therefore in violation of the outpost's protocol.

The IDF Spokesperson's Office said that "in the morning, a break-in was discovered in a military armory in the north of the country and military equipment is missing. The Military Police and the commanders opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident."
