Innovative IDF technologies of the future revealed

A special division in the Israeli Defense Ministry is working on developing new technologies for the IDF. These innovations will not only save lives by relying less on soldiers in the field but also improve the accuracy of attacks on enemy forces.

Drones equipped with weapons, electronic devices that will increase the accuracy of hitting a target and highly-advanced armored fighting vehicles—these are just some of the new technologies developed by the Israeli Defense Ministry's Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure (MAFAT), which is one of the most advanced and innovative defense technology agencies in the world.

These technologies, which were designed to assist IDF soldiers in future wars and battles, indicate that while the battlefield may continue to be the main front for combat, advanced technology will help save the lives of soldiers and ensure a more accurate attack.

Among the new technologies is an AFV called Carmel, a small, fast and deadly vehicle that is easy to operate and cheap to manufacture. According to MAFAT, only two soldiers are needed to operate the vehicle, which is equipped with a hybrid engine.

MAFAT is also working on developing drones equipped with firearms. These innovative drones can be used as makeshift snipers and will undoutedly surprise enemy forces in the field. It is estimated that the drones will be operationally tested in the next year.

Another impressive technology being developed by MAFAT is called Smash, an electro-optic system that drastically improves a soldier's chances of hitting his or her target. When a firearm is equipped with the system, the soldier still squeezes the trigger but the gun only fires when the target is in the center of the sight.

Everyone is used to the UAVs but MAFAT is also developing unmanned submarines, which are tiny watercraft that will be used for scanning and mapping missions. In addition, large autonomous submarines are being developed for covert missions.

"MAFAT is trying to foresee the future battlefield both in terms of threat and technology," said MAFAT head Brig.-Gen. (res.) Danny Gold. According to him, the threats Israel is facing have changed and thus new technologies are being developed.

Teen charged with racist aggravated assault in Jerusalem market
A Jewish Israeli teenager is being charged with committing a racist aggravated assault against an Arab man in Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda market.

According to today’s indictment, Yehiel Weissenstern, 18, along with two other men, saw an Arab man walking with a Jewish female coworker along Jerusalem’s Agrippas street, which borders the market, on the evening of September 4.

After questioning the couple and ascertaining that the man was Arab and the woman was Jewish, the defendant, who resides in the predominantly ultra-Orthodox city of Modiin Illit, and the two others allegedly hurled abuse at the man, drew a knife, and threatened to “fuck him up.”

They allegedly chased him, surrounded him and told him that he could no longer work in the market. Then they began punching him, and after he fell to the ground the defendant began kicking him, the indictment says.

Opposition lawmakers on Saturday strongly criticized Yair Netanyahu, 26, for posting a cartoon over the weekend that appears to have anti-Semitic origins and has circulated on anti-Semitic websites.

...................

The cartoon, posted Friday on Yair Netanyahu’s private Facebook profile, features references to Jewish billionaire and philanthropist George Soros, the Illuminati and some sort of lizard creature.

Barak, 75, is a former prime minister, defense minister, IDF chief of staff and Israel’s most decorated soldier — and a leading critic of Netanyahu.

Responding to the younger Netanyahu’s posting of the cartoon, which former Ku Klux Klan head David Duke shared an article about on his Twitter account, Labor party chief Avi Gabbay said earlier Saturday it was a “sad day” when the prime minister’s son shares a cartoon the leader of the KKK would agree with.

A tank flipped over this morning (Wednesday) during an IDF Armored Corps battalion exercise in the Golan Heights. The three soldiers in the tank were slightly injured and the IDF is currently evaluating whether the incident occurred due to human error or the soldiers’ negligence.

The incident occurred during an exercise conducted by the 53rd Battalion of the IDF Armored Corps 188th Brigade in the Ahmadia fire zone. Initial investigation findings indicate that the tank missed the axis upon which it was traveling and flipped over.

Välimeren ilmastolla on ihmeellinen vaikutus. Varsinkin vanhenemisen suhteen.
