Residents of Yekaterinburg, Russia began licking eggs in Zhiznmart supermarkets in hopes of getting salmonella so they could receive the 1,000,000 rubles promised by the owner Ivan Zaichenko as compensation to his customers who allegedly got poisoned in his stores.
Earlier in May 18 complaints of acute intestinal infection were recorded in Yekaterinburg due to several types of viruses and bacteria.
The fact that the city residents were massively poisoned with dishes from "Zhiznmart" has not yet been proven. However, the company suspended the supply of those products that fell under suspicion and promised to pay compensation to the victims in the amount of 1,000,000 rubles.
The owner of the chain Ivan Zaichenko posted on his TG channel:
“About a million
As far as I understand, according to the latest information, Rospotrebnadzor and hospitals are simply inundated with claims for poisoning at Zhiznmart.
People complain about everything: the food that was prepared a few days ago in factories that have already been checked, and passed all the tests, and about food that they ate back in April.
Unofficially, this is happening because of the promised compensation of a million rubles.
It looks like the million was a completely idiotic idea on my part, it's my mistake.
If we were at fault, I wanted to do good and somehow compensate people for the problems we created. But the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I apologize to everyone who was affected by this, I'm very sorry this happened.
Please note that we are going to pay compensation to those whom Rospotrebnadzor referred to when starting the inspections.
This is 18 people, and we will take these lists from Rospotrebnadzor itself. Any other requests will not be eligible for this payment.
So please don't lick the eggs, it's dangerous.”
