KSG.... nah.
Tää juttu taitaa olla täyttä satua, mutta uskokoon ken haluaa.
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/01/26/brass-based-expanding-and-fragmenting-shotgun-slugs/OATH Ammunition has two new designs that solve over-penetration along with greatly improving reliability in box-fed shotguns.
Above is their 1.25oz 1600fps all-copper slug designed to expand to an incredible 2.5″ and penetrate just enough to punch through a hostile human with little energy left to harm anyone downrange. If you’ve ever heard the expression: “a hole big enough to toss a cat through,” consider that cats can fit any opening larger than their heads, and smaller breeds have heads under 2.5″ in circumference. The copper or aluminum expander die visible in the middle ensures reliable opening even through heavy clothing. The die itself penetrates deeper than the expanded slug.
The Fostech Origin-12 Shotgun sports some seamingly well-designed, ergonomic controls on the lower receiver, with a mag-release (magazine release) lever placed forward inside the trigger guard, and a large/oversized BCG (Bolt Carrier Group)-release button/lever the right side of the reciever, as well as an ambi (ambidextrous) safety/selector switch.
The lower receiver’s magwell is nice and wide for fast, easy direct magazine insertion. When you need to do a mag change, it’s straight-in, straight-out, not rock and lock. But how many rounds do you get. Again, Fostech delivers, offering proprietary 5, 8 and 10-round box magazines, and 20 and 30-round drum mags. Pretty great.
“In-line shotguns, when you shoot them, they climb. Pure physics will tell you about this firearm [Origin-12]. When you shoot it, it takes recoil out of it, and it punches you on target,” says Fostech Outdoors executive Judd Foster.
Another Fostech Origin-12 Shotgun design feature is the seeming robustness/ruggedness of the operating mechanism, including the large left-side-mounted charging handle and large-knob adjustable gas block a.ka. “infinite” gas system.
“The thing that makes this gun truly unique is the gas system. That’s the patented part of the gun, it’s the lifeblood of the gun. What it does, it picks up the gas as soon as it leaves the chamber, with two quarter inch tubes, translates it forward, so it’s a very efficient gun. So, the Achilles heal of the box-fed shotguns of the past, we’ve taken care of. It’ll shoot the light loads, straight out of the box,” says Foster.
Lisäksi taitaa kansainväliset laitkin olla vähän tuollaisen sirpaloituvan luodin käyttöä vastaan.
Tunnustan jo nyt etten jaksanut lukea koko lankaa juurtajaksaen läpi,
mutta silmiini ei pikaselailulla pistänyt eräs haulikon käyttötarkoitus jota SA kouluttaa edelleen nimittäin sirotemiinoitteiden raivaus nopea turvallinen ja tehokas metodi jota muuan ystäväni sanoi raivaaja kompaniassa kovasti treenanneen.
Kuulemma melko hauskaa vieläpä harjoitella
aina löytyy suurempi, enempi, vahvempi ..?

Eric’s series on “How Far Will (Insert Caliber/Weapon Here) Kill” has been quite the learning experience. Using a 3/4″ in plyboard as the standard for a potentially lethal wound, even the lowly 22 LR stretches its legs hundreds of yards. Now, Eric and the IV8888 team tackle what might the the hardest to quantify, the shotgun.
The lowly scatter-gun is often thought of as only a close-range weapon. While true that one can argue that the “effective” range of the shotgun is low compared to a rifle, it does largely depend on the ammunition and sighting system used. For example, bird shot is long known to not typically cause lethal wounds to bipedal mammals at short range. Simply put, its too small and decelerates too fast to penetrate enough (unless one gets lucky on eyes, etc.) at longer range.
On the flip side, buckshot and slugs are known to be particularly brutal. Typical 00 buckshot is the rough equivalent of 9 – 12x 9mm bullets hitting a target at once and a slug is a a solid lead meat pulverizer. But, the question remains, how far can those “lethal” loads hit?
The results can be surprising. “Non-Lethal” bird shot is devastating in a compressed form, either in a cut-shell or within short range. Then there are non-surprising results where the buckshot maintains lethality (though an open pattern) at 50 yards.
The Slug? It can reach out and touch something albeit with some serious drop.
