Korean Sota Osa II ?

Just meinasin sanoa, että varmaan pienenä varoituksena myös Kiinalle. Mietityttää vaan, että mahtaako Nalle Puh ruveta veljeilemään sen toisen pullukan kanssa, kun vapaa maailma tiivistää välejään.

The North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, has prompted more speculation about his health after recent photographs suggested he had lost weight.

Kim, whose heavy frame has drawn global interest since he became the country’s leader almost a decade ago, looked noticeably trimmer in images released by state media on Saturday, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

NK News, which analysed photos of Kim addressing a ruling party politburo meeting late last week – his first public appearance for a month – said he appeared to have lost a “significant amount of weight”

Nälänhätä vai sairaus?

Almost 18 months after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, North Korea has come close to conceding that its attempts to keep the virus from its borders have failed.

While North Korea’s state-controlled media have not reported any cases, some analysts assume the virus has breached the country’s defences, prompting its leader, Kim Jong-un, to issue a coded request for outside help this week.

If their interpretation is correct, it would mark a significant turning point in the North’s coronavirus response, after repeated claims by the regime that it has not recorded a single infection.

Young North Koreans have been warned to adhere to the country’s standard language and follow “traditional lifestyles” as part of the regime’s campaign to stamp out cultural influences from neighbouring South Korea.

In an editorial published on Sunday, the Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the ruling Workers’ party, railed against the creeping influence of the South on everything from hairstyles to the spoken word.

“The ideological and cultural penetration under the colourful signboard of the bourgeoisie is even more dangerous than enemies who are taking guns,” it said, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

Rather than mimic their peers in the South, young North Koreans should stick to their country’s “superior” standard language, which is based on the dialect used in the capital, Pyongyang.

North Korea wants a raft of international sanctions eased – including on imports of luxury items such as high-class liquors and suits – before it will restart denuclearisation talks with the United States, South Korean lawmakers have said.

Pyongyang has also called for sanctions banning its metal exports and imports of refined fuel and other necessities to be lifted, the lawmakers said on Tuesday after being briefed by Park Jie-won, head of the South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS).

The remarks came as the NIS said North Korea was distributing emergency military reserves of rice amid a severe food shortage and economic crisis caused by a drought and made worse by the coronavirus pandemic. The reserves are usually held for wartime.

Suurella johtajalla on varastot tyhjät

“I asked which necessities they want the most, and they said high-class liquors and suits were included, not just for Kim Jong-un’s own consumption but to distribute to Pyongyang’s elite,” he said, referring to North Korea’s leader.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un brought the commanders of the armed forces to task for “major shortcomings” during a workshop that seemed aimed at underscoring the party’s preponderance.

The four-day workshop run by Kim, whose many titles include commander-in-chief, looked in detail at the military’s shortcomings “in the implementation of the military lines and policies of the party and the causes behind them,” reported state news agency KCNA.

The workshop, the first of its kind for commanders and political officers, was held July 24-27.

Kim stressed that the Korean People’s Army “is the armed forces of the Party and therefore all the military and political activities should reflect the Party’s will, strength and voice and should be aimed at realizing the Party’s intention,” according to KCNA.

There has been speculation in South Korea that the army of the autocratically ruled neighbouring country may have failed to follow Kim’s instructions to release food reserves for the population, among other things.

Kim also called on the armed forced to be prepared for “any military provocation of enemies,” who were intensifying their “war exercises.”

In South Korea, this was understood as an allusion to planned joint exercises by the US and South Korea next month.

According to the Defence Ministry in Seoul, both sides are still discussing when and to what extent the military exercises should take place. Seoul fears that the drills could run counter to efforts to hold new negotiations with Pyongyang over its nuclear weapons programme. Both countries deny North Korea’s regular accusation that their manoeuvres are in preparation for an attack.

The influential sister of the North Korean ruler, Kim Jong-un, has called Seoul authorities “treacherous” over the South’s joint military exercises with the US, warning the two allies would face greater security threats as a result.

Kim Yo-jong’s latest remarks come despite a surprise thaw on the Korean peninsula, prompted by a series of personal letters between her brother and the South Korean president, Moon Jae-in.

The two sides in July restored cross-border communications that were severed more than a year ago, announcing their leaders had agreed to work on improving ties.

But Kim Yo-jong, a key adviser to her brother, said the South was “treacherous” for holding “dangerous” joint military drills with Washington this month, which the North has long considered rehearsals for invasion.

“I take this opportunity to express my strong regret for the treacherous treatment of the South Korean authorities,” she said in a statement released by Pyongyang’s official KCNA news agency.

Sisko alkaa olemaan ongelma. Mikä olisi ratkaisu asiaan?

North Korea paraded goose-stepping soldiers but no ballistic missiles in its capital overnight, in a celebration of the nation’s 73rd anniversary that was overseen by leader Kim Jong-un, state media reported on Thursday.

The Korean Central News Agency said fighter jets flew in formation above the midnight parade at Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang and some conventional weapons were on display, including multiple rocket launchers and tractors carrying anti-tank missiles.

But no ballistic missiles were seen or mentioned in the reports, and Kim did not deliver any speech, unlike last October when he boasted of the country’s nuclear capabilities and showcased previously unseen intercontinental ballistic missiles during a pre-dawn military parade.

Huhuja uudesta pitkän kantaman ohjuksen laukaisusta. Katsotaan tuleeko yöllä uutisia.
Twitteri laulaa aiheesta aika paljon ja Karjalainen tehnyt uutisen:

Luotettavin lähde Yonhap news, etelä-korealainen uutistoimisto sanoo samaa:

– Risteilyohjukset havaitaan usein vasta kokeiden jälkikäteen, sillä ne lentävät matalalla. Pohjois-Korea on tehnyt jo aiemmin tänä vuonna kaksi risteilyohjuskoetta, mutta emme paljastaneet niitä, koska emme paljasta kaikkia havaitsemiamme ohjuskokeita, Etelä-Korean puolustusministeriön virkamies sanoi CNN:lle.
