Thales varustaa Rankalaiset SpyRangerilla.

Spy’Ranger will provide them with a decisive tactical advantage by offering the capacity to observe day or night, for long periods of time and at a distance of up to 30 km. Spy’Ranger is used in particular to carry out the following missions: provide support to a combined arms tactical group maneuver or to an offensive reconnaissance mission; provide a cover mechanism, support the neutralisation of strong points and contribute to firing maneuvers by providing a “remote airborne eye” able to adjust shooting rounds on a target.

"Developed by Thales in cooperation with French SMEs Aviation Design and Merio in under 13 months, Spy’Ranger will offer French Forces a number of innovations that provide real capability gains. Spy’Ranger will therefore markedly contribute to the gathering of frontline intelligence and to the protection of forces in operation." said Jean-Pascal Arrou-Vignod, Thales VP in charge of Optronics business.

The Spy’Ranger, developed by Thales in collaboration with several French SMEs, is a mini-UAV designed and manufactured in France. Spy'Ranger packs state-of-the-art technologies that provide much better performance:

- Transportable in a backpack, Spy’Ranger can perform observation missions over a period of 2 hours 30 minutes, covering a range of 30 km : a much larger surveillance area than those covered by systems currently in service;

- Its gyrostabilized multi-sensor optronic payload has the highest resolution in the world for this range of platform, facilitating the positive identification of zones or objects over which it has flown ;

- Its tactical data link, protected to the highest standard, offers high speeds allowing the transmission of a high-definition image streams;

- Its command and control software (C2) provides an effective user interface;

- A mobile and digital support management system, based on Thales’s Smartfleet solution, that enables efficient execution and piloting of the Through Life Support’s.

Fully adapted to frontline air-land intelligence missions in battlefields in hostile environments (climate, electromagnetic, physical, etc.), the Spy’Ranger has been designed to optimise life cycle costs.

Kiinalaisten Wing Loong mainosvideo. Lienee ainut UCAV mistä löytyy aseistuksena myös ns tyhmiä rypälepommeja? En muista lukeneeni että muissa valtioissa olisi rypälepommeja testattu.

"Department of Defense Announces Successful Micro-Drone Demonstration

In one of the most significant tests of autonomous systems under development by the Department of Defense, the Strategic Capabilities Office, partnering with Naval Air Systems Command, successfully demonstrated one of the world’s largest micro-drone swarms at China Lake, California. The test, conducted in October 2016 and documented on Sunday’s CBS News program “60 Minutes”, consisted of 103 Perdix drones launched from three F/A-18 Super Hornets. The micro-drones demonstrated advanced swarm behaviors such as collective decision-making, adaptive formation flying, and self-healing.

“I congratulate the Strategic Capabilities Office for this successful demonstration,” said Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, who created SCO in 2012. “This is the kind of cutting-edge innovation that will keep us a step ahead of our adversaries. This demonstration will advance our development of autonomous systems.”

Ihan näppärä tietenkin. Seuraava versio on varmaan raketti joka lennon aikana pudottaa nipun droneja, ennustaisin. Jotain käyttöä MLRS:llekin.

Mutta edelleen ongelmana on elektroninen häirintä. Pahimmassa tapauksessa GPS ja tiedonsiirto ovat niin kovan häirinnän alla, että dronet joutuu esiohjelmoimaan lentämään INS:n varassa kohti omia linjoja, kunnes löytävät häirintävapaan alueen mistä voivat lähettää kuvatun materiaalin kotipesään.

Viimeksi muokattu:

Teledyne SeaBotix has won a multimillion dollar U.S. Department of Defense contract for underwater remotely operated vehicles.

The observation-class vehicles are used by mobile explosive ordnance disposal units around the world. Teledyne SeaBotix said the contract was obtained through Atlantic Diving Supply, a distributor, and calls for delivery of 60 new vLBV300 ROV systems as part of an operational upgrade.

The SeaBotix vLBV 300 systems will be fitted with a range of commercial off-the-shelf equipment, including SeaBotix's unique tracked crawler attachment skid, imaging sonar, tooling options, altimeter and USBL/GPS navigation capability. They will also feature the Teledyne Marine autonomous ROV navigation package, SmartFlight.

The drones could be released by fighters to provide reconnaissance for troops on the ground, hunting enemy forces and reporting their location. They could also jam enemy communications, form a wide-area flying communications network, or provide persistent surveillance of a particular area. They could be loaded with small explosive charges and attack individual enemy soldiers. In air-to-air combat, they could spoof enemy radars on aircraft, ground vehicles, and missiles by pretending to be much larger targets.

Voisi olla mielenkiintoista tehdä laskelma eri decoy dronejen hinnoista vs vastaavaan korkeuteen yltävä IT-ohjus. Dronelle riittää kyky lentää jotakuinkin oikeaan suuntaan riittävällä nopeudella&korkeudella ja sopivalla tutka-herätteellä. Oletettavasti nämä harhautusmaalit olisivat halvempia ja nopeampia valmistaa, joten riittävällä määrällä romua lentämässä vastapuolen IT varastoja saadaan kulutettua ja omaa lentotoimintaa vastaavasti suojattua.

"The micro-drones demonstrated advanced swarm behaviors such as collective decision-making, adaptive formation flying and self-healing," Pentagon announced in a statement.

"Perdix are not pre-programmed synchronized individuals, they are a collective organism, sharing one distributed brain for decision-making and adapting to each other like swarms in nature," said William Roper, director of the Pentagon's Strategic Capabilities Office. "Because every Perdix communicates and collaborates with every other Perdix, the swarm has no leader and can gracefully adapt to drones entering or exiting the team."

Uutinen vapaasti käännettynä:

Venäjällä Itäiseen sotilaspiiriin luodaan erikoisyksiköt dronejen torjuntaan.

Dronejen määrä on kasvanut joukoilla puolella.

The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) announced on 5 January that it has ordered 35 Spy'Ranger unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Thales for the French Army's Système de Mini Drone de Reconnaissance (SMDR) requirement.

The SMDR is set to replace the Airbus Drone de Renseignement Au Contact (DRAC), which has been operated by the French Army since 2008.

The initial contract, placed on 21 December 2016, covers a firm order for 35 systems and maintenance support for 10 years. The contract also includes provisions to raise the total of systems ordered up to 70, if required. Each system includes three UAVs and a ground control station.

Jenkki valmistajilla on odotettavissa kova vuosi edessä.

UAV manufacturers are off to a busy 2017, with branches of the US Armed forces commissioning new orders and sustainment works. Washington firm Insitu has been contracted $70 million for the provision of six additional Lot I RQ-21A Blackjack unmanned aircraft systems to the Navy, comprised of unmanned aircraft, ground control stations, multi-mission plug-and-play payloads, and additional supporting equipment. The Army, meanwhile, has contracted Textron to perform sustainment services for the Army’s RQ-7 Shadow tactical unmanned aircraft system. Valued at $ 206 million, Textron will provide engineering, logistics, field service operations, depot materiel repair and post-production software support to the Army’s fleet of 117 Shadow aircraft.

Tuo parvena liikkuvat microdronet on ehkä mielenkiintoisin uutuus pitkään aikaan.

The key is a modular UAVthat can easily acceptdifferent payloads depending on which missions are desired and can be produced cheaply enough that they are one-way."

Vaikka isona parvena meni.
Ilman mitään tehtäväkomentoa ne asemoi itsensä parveen. Jos yksi tippuu,muut jatkavat. Käskyllä voi yhden dronen erottaa parvesta vaikkapa tiedustelemaan etukäteen.
He describes how the operator's interface will handle "aggregation" and "disaggregation", his terms for drones joining or leaving the swarm. A single drone might detach to get a closer look at a target, and return or carry out an attack.

Adaptability is important because different payloads are required for different types of mission: the drones may be equipped with video cameras or other sensors, jammers to interfere with enemy radar or they might carry explosive
