Italian Ambassador protested over journalists' illegal entry into Kursk region
MOSCOW, August 16. /TASS/. Italian Ambassador Cecilia Piccioni was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry because of the illegal entry of journalists from the Italian state television and radio company RAI (Radiotelevisione italiana) into the Kursk region to cover an attack by Ukrainian militants. A strong protest was expressed to her, the Russian diplomatic agency said in a statement.
"On August 16, the Italian Ambassador to Moscow, Piccioni, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. A strong protest was expressed to the Ambassador in connection with the actions of the film crew of the Italian state television and radio company RAI, which illegally entered the territory of the Russian Federation to cover the criminal terrorist attack by Ukrainian militants in the Kursk region. In gross violation of Russian legislation and elementary rules of journalistic ethics, the Italian correspondents used their presence on the territory of our country to whitewash the propaganda support for the crimes of the Kyiv regime," the ministry noted.
"The actions committed by Italian citizens fall under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The Russian competent authorities are taking the necessary steps to establish the circumstances of the crime committed by RAI employees for their legal assessment and the adoption of appropriate measures," the diplomatic agency said.
