11 thousand military personnel will take part in the military parade in honor of Victory Day on Red Square in Moscow this year. This was announced on Monday, April 18, by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"In total, 11 thousand servicemen, 131 units of modern weapons and military equipment, 77 aircraft and helicopters are involved in preparing for the parade on Red Square," the ministry told reporters.
A rehearsal of the Victory Parade took place at the Alabino training ground. 33 parade calculations of the walking column took part in it. The mechanized column involved all-terrain vehicles "Typhoon", infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2, BMP-3, tanks T-72B3M, T-90M "Breakthrough" and others. Also in the column were the air defense systems "Tor-M2", "Buk-MZ" and S-400 "Triumph".
On April 5, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the festive military parade in honor of Victory Day this year will take place, as always, on Red Square on May 9. The march of the "Immortal Regiment" will also be held in the traditional format.
At the same time, the Kremlin does not yet have information on whether the military of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as participants in the special operation to protect Donbass, will participate in the Victory Parade.
This year Russia will celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which took place on May 9, 1945. On this day, military parades are held in Russian cities, in which the best samples of Russian weapons participate. The main one is traditionally organized on Red Square. The equipment drives along the paving stones in the presence of guests, including veterans who participated in the war.
