Venäjälle loikannut ukrainalaiskomentaja sai surmansa iskussa | Verkkouutiset

The US state department has said it is aware of reports an American national living in Ukraine is being held captive by pro-Russian separatists.
Suedi Murekezi, 35, a Rwandan-born crypto investor, is said to have been arrested last month in the Russian-occupied port city of Kherson.
Friends and family say the US Air Force veteran has been falsely accused of joining pro-Ukraine protests.
He is reportedly in the same jail as two US fighters captured last month.
The state department said on Wednesday it was "aware of these unconfirmed reports".
But it declined to provide further comment "due to privacy considerations".
Mr Murekezi's family has been in daily contact with the agency, according to the Guardian.
The outlet reports that the missing American lived in Minnesota and spent eight years in the US Air Force until 2017, when he began investing in shares and cryptocurrencies.
Drawn to Ukraine by the country's liberal bitcoin regulations, Mr Murekezi made business trips to the country before permanently settling in Kherson two years ago, the Guardian said.
On 20 February, Valya received a call from her son in the Russian army. His unit was "on exercises" near the Ukrainian border.
"He said they were doing firing practice and living in tents," Valya tells me. "That was the last time I spoke to him."
Four days later, Russian troops invaded Ukraine.
Russia's offensive has brought untold suffering to its neighbour. Since President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion, thousands of civilians have been killed in Ukraine.
But back home, there are consequences too, for the families of Russian servicemen who have been sent into battle.
Valya is not her real name. Fearing repercussions from the authorities for speaking out, the mother has asked us to conceal her identity.
But she's keen to share her story. She wants to talk to us about her son and what she thinks of the Kremlin's "special military operation".
Many Russians do believe the official government line and support the "special military operation", as it is presented to them on state TV. In Russia the Kremlin controls TV and, therefore, the messaging.
But not completely. Valya is in contact with soldiers' mothers across Russia. She claims that among mothers there is growing resentment towards the authorities over who is being sent to fight in Ukraine.
"They hate the government. They hate Putin," Valya tells me. "They all want this war to end. All the mothers do.
"We're the lowest class. We're simple country folk. All the lads doing the fighting are from remote regions of Russia. Not Muscovites. There are no sons of government officials there.
"If the mothers of all the soldiers there now, and the mothers who've lost sons, if they all rose up, can you imagine how big that army would be? And they will. Their nerves will snap.
"Stop. Stop all this. Stop it and protect our children."
Since speaking with us, Valya has received official notification that her son was killed in Ukraine. One more Russian soldier who won't be returning home.
Siis..
Käytännössä upseerien urakierto nopeutuu....Due to the serious losses of the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine, there is a shortage of commanders in the Russian army.
Jo kuusi venäläistä oligarkkia on kuollut oudoissa itsemurhissa tänä vuonna
The European Space Agency has officially terminated cooperation with Russia on a mission to put a rover on Mars, with Russia's space chief furiously responding by banning cosmonauts on the ISS from using a Europe-made robotic arm. France 24 reports: The ESA had previously suspended ties on the joint ExoMars mission, which had planned to use Russian rockets to put Europe's Rosalind Franklin rover on the red planet to drill for signs of life, due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. ESA Director-General Josef Aschbacher tweeted on Tuesday that because the war and resulting sanctions "continue to prevail," the agency would "officially terminate" ties with Russia on ExoMars and its landing platform.
The firebrand head of Russian space agency Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin issued an angry response. "Has the head of the European Space Agency thought about the work of thousands of scientists and engineers in Europe and Russia which has been ended by this decision? Is he prepared to answer for sabotaging a joint Mars mission?" Rogozin said on Telegram. "I, in turn, order our crew on the ISS to stop working with the European manipulator ERA," he added.
Täytyy oikein ihmetellä mikä "helevetin himo" eräille on kirjoitettaa näistäkin julkisuuteen..Hei vähän rajaa tähän. Joku sivaritoimittaja on päässyt ammustehtaalle ja ottanut kivan kuvan kiiltelevistä esineistä. Ja nyt yhtä kuvaa analysoidaan sivutolkulla.
With uncertainty hanging over the global economy, Gartner sees IT spending holding steady at 3 percent growth for 2022, with both winners and losers in different industry segments.
The global IT research firm predicts worldwide IT spending will total $4.5 trillion this year, up 3 percent from 2021 in dollar terms, but more (5.9 percent) if currency fluctuation against a strong greenback are accounted for.
As the world emerged from pandemic lockdowns, it faced the combined threat of geopolitical instability in the form of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and inflation at levels not seen for 40 years on both sides of the Atlantic. Meanwhile, to combat rising prices, central banks are raising interest rates after a long period of less than 1 percent.
But overall the IT industry is set to weather the storm with a few exceptions. Spending cutbacks on PCs, tablets and printers by consumers, causing spending on devices to shrink 5 percent to $768 billion in 2022, according to the latest Gartner forecasts.
It had already forecast worldwide PC shipments would decline by 9.5 percent in 2022 driven by a collapse in consumer demand.
But strength in cloud, software, datacenters and IT services makes up for weakness on device spending.
Growth in cloud spending is set to hit 22.1 percent in 2022, up from 18.4 percent growth in 2021. It is included in the category for cloud consulting and implementation and cloud managed services which are set to grow 17.2 percent in 2022 reach $255 billion in 2022, helping to drive the overall IT services segment to 6.2 percent growth in 2022.
A Moscow court has ordered Apple and Zoom to pay fines for refusing to store Russian citizens' data locally.
Apple received a penalty of nearly $34,000 on Tuesday while Zoom and a third company called Ookla, which is behind internet access performance tool Speedtest, were fined nearly $17,000 each.
Russian regulator Roskomnadzor argued the three companies were non-compliant with demands that foreign companies provide documents confirming storage and processing of citizen personal data occurs domestically.
According to Russian state media, Apple's defense made reference to the iPhone maker's multiple legal entities.
"Within the framework of the structure of Apple, many legal entities have been created. The processing of personal data is not engaged in Apple Inc, but Apple Distribution International Ltd, this is indicated in all explanations for users of Apple products," an Apple representative reportedly said in court.
The case was heard in Tagansky District Court of Moscow – the same court that issued similar fines to Pinterest, Airbnb, Twitch, and UPS for the same alleged offense last month.
