Ukrainan konflikti/sota

Tämä on hieno juttu myöskin:

"Komissaarin mukaan EU-alueelle Venäjältä pääsee maanantaiaamusta lähtien ainoastaan sellaiset henkilöt, joilla on humanitäärinen peruste saapua turvaan EU-alueelle, tai perhettä unionimaissa. Viisumin voivat jatkossa saada myös venäläiset journalistit."

Kattaako tämä kielto myös Schengen-viisumia heiluttelevat turistit?

Unkari pitäis eristää lännestä täysin. Ulos eu:sta ja natosta.
Ulos EU:sta, salli mun hirnua.

Unkarin eristäminen Natossa on varmasti jo tapahtunut tosiasia. Näistä ei vain toreilla hölötetä.

DALLAS, 26 March 2009. A Lockheed Martin High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher fired two Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) during a U.S. Army "common launcher" feasibility demonstration at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Representatives from U.S. Army and industry conducted the "proof of concept" firing to examine the viability of firing an air defense missile from the currently-fielded HIMARS, says a representative.

Tommosta tehty jo 2009, mikähän malli nykyään? Kuulostaisi hyvältä konseptilta Ukrainalle?

The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania announced the news on Twitter, Ukrinform reports. “Lithuania continues material support to Ukrainian Armed Forces. Our 105 mm howitzers are on their way to Ukraine,” the tweet reads. The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense added that Ukraine needs a “non-stop weapon supply. We cannot make pauses,” reads the tweet.

However the howitzer model is not specified, the picture published by Ukrinform, if related to the Lithuanian delivery, shows a U.S.-made M101A1 (previously designated M2A1) model. It was the standard U.S. light field howitzer in World War II and saw action in both the European and Pacific theaters and during the Korean War. Entering production in 1941, it quickly gained a reputation for accuracy and a powerful punch. The M101A1 fires 105 mm high explosive (HE) semi-fixed ammunition and has a range of 12,330 yards (11,270 m), making it suitable for supporting infantry.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, at the end of August, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvidas Anusauskas stated that Lithuania's military aid to Ukraine amounts to more than EUR 120 million, with the total amount of support soon to exceed half a billion euros.

The donation was announced by Norwegian Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram when he met Defence Ministers from 40 or so countries in Germany today. Western countries are in Ramstein to coordinate further donations and military support to Ukraine, to secure that the country can withstand the Russian invasion.

‘’The Hellfire missiles were originally acquired for the Coastal Ranger Commando. This is a weapon that Ukraine has asked for, and it will prove useful in their fight against Russian invasion forces. The missile is easy to operate, and can be used against both land- and sea targets’’, said Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

The Norwegian Armed Forces tested and verified the status of the missiles prior to their shipment. They have now been shipped from Norway. Ukrainian operators have been trained in the use of Hellfire by Norwegian instructors. The Hellfire system is nearing the end of its service life was scheduled to be phased out the Norwegian Armed Forces.

Norway has also donated night-vision equipment to Ukraine. This includes both night vision goggles and binoculars. This is equipment that has been replaced by newer equipment in the Norwegian Armed Forces.

In the future, donations will to a lesser extent come from the Armed Forces’ own inventory. ‘’So far, we and our allies have donated military systems and equipment from our own stocks. In the future we will need to cooperate closely with the defence industry in order to maintain necessary deliveries of military equipment to Ukraine. This will also ensure that Ukraine receives more modern and efficient equipment’’, said Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram.

Viimeksi muokattu:
Declassifying intelligence to defuse Russian narratives has “played a very effective role” in the months-long war in Ukraine, according to the head of the Central Intelligence Agency, particularly when it’s part of a broader strategy. But its usefulness has limits when it comes to cyber threat intelligence.

“The decisions to declassify intelligence are always very complicated ones, but I think when President [Joe] Biden has decided very carefully and very selectively to make public some of our secrets, it's played a very effective role over the course of the last six months, and I think it can continue to—again, if we make it the exception, not the rule,” William Burns, the director of the CIA, said during a keynote at the Billington Cybersecurity Summit on Thursday.

Burns said recklessly handling of information was the “surest way” to lose access to good intelligence, but with respect to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it has helped counter false narratives out of the Kremlin.

Poland says it plans to buy as many as 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, which will replace its aging fleet of around 30 Cold War-era Mi-24 Hind gunships and then some. This would also make the Polish Land Forces the second-largest AH-64 operator worldwide, behind the U.S. Army.

The announcement reflects a broader multi-billion-dollar Polish military spending spree, spurred in part by the current conflict in Ukraine. Just this year, authorities in Poland have announced places to purchase of 48 FA-50 light combat jets and 180 K2 tanks, among other things, from South Korea, as well as 250 M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks from the United States. This follows other major procurement programs in recent years, including an order for 32 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak, who was in Germany today as part of the latest meeting of the U.S.-led Ukraine Contact Group, was the first to make the announcement about the Apache deal, via an unexpected post on Twitter earlier today. The AH-64E had been competing with Bell's AH-1Z Viper for Poland's long-running Kruk (meaning Raven) attack helicopter tender.
Boeing's offer to Poland was for “AH-64EV6, with MUM-T [manned-unmanned-teaming] capability," Adam Hodges, Capture Team Lead for Vertical Lift International Sales at Boeing Defense, Space & Security, had told reporters at MSPO, according to Breaking Defense. However, "the level of interoperability will be detailed on [the] base of government to government talks, and will depend on customer requirements and US Government."

The V6 subvariant of the AH-64E is one of, if not the most modern configurations of the Apache. The U.S. Army is in the process of bringing its AH-64E fleet up to this standard, which includes a raft of improvements and new capabilities, beyond the improved ability to work cooperatively with unmanned aircraft. Compared to earlier AH-64Es, V6 types feature an expanded suite of sensors, as well as communications systems and data-links, which improve their ability to spot and engage targets, especially during over-water operations, as well as detect and avoid threats.
