The Eagle anti-aircraft missile that has defended my country's airspace for 63 years has been officially decommissioned on June 29. Sources pointed out that after the decommissioning, the handling of the hundreds of Eagle missiles in the inventory of the four battalions and 18 Eagle missile companies was a headache for us, but after Taiwan-US negotiations, the US has confirmed that it will "return Purchased most of the missile systems and sent them to Ukraine for military assistance to strengthen Ukraine's air defense system.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced the latest aid list to Ukraine on June 9. The overall content is as high as 2.1 billion US dollars (approximately NT$64.417 billion). In addition to the Patriot missiles, it will also assist Ukraine's "Eagle" air defense system and missiles, as well as possible The "Puma" small drone that is thrown into the air by hand.

Sources pointed out that most of the Eagle missiles included in the U.S. aid list to Ukraine are “repurchase” of the decommissioned Eagle III systems for Ukraine’s defense against small Russian drones and low-altitude fighters.
The Eagle missile used in my country was a relatively new model "Hawk Phase III". Countries that still use it include Egypt, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, etc. It is still an easy-to-use and reliable air defense system; last year Spain Hand over 4 sets of old Phase III Eagle missiles to Ukraine in response to Russian air strikes.
Also because the Ukrainian army has already used the Eagle missile system aided by Spain. In fact, the United States highly appreciates our use and maintenance over the years. Therefore, as early as last year, after consultations with high-level national security officials, it was determined that we would be removed from the country and discharged from service. The Eagle missiles sent to the battlefield can be used directly by the Ukrainian army.
According to Air Force statistics, Eagle missiles participated in 41 major combat exercises from 1965 to 2017. A total of 324 live-fired missiles were fired, and 293 missiles were successfully intercepted, with a hit rate as high as 90.4%.
After the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian War, many cities in Ukraine were hit by Russian-caliber cruise missiles, and Ukraine’s old Soviet air defense system was not efficient in intercepting, so it was urgent to replace it with NATO air defense missiles. The Eagle, which has been retired for many years in NATO countries, is once again in battle. On November 3, 2022, Spain announced the delivery of 4 sets of MIM-23BI "Eagle 3rd Generation" to Ukraine; the next day, the United States announced that it would take the initiative to undertake the maintenance of these Eagle missiles, which are expected to be handed over to Ukraine in the second half of this year superior.
The Ministry of National Defense stated that the elimination and disposal of the military's weapon systems are all carried out in accordance with the "National Army's Disposal of Obsolete and Unsuitable Materials Operation Regulations", without explaining the details of the operation.
