Reconnaissance, ambush, counterattack, sweep: National Guardsmen improve their combat skills

Soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine fight in different directions and in different conditions. Locations and landscapes are changing. The tactics of the enemy and the tasks performed by our servicemen are changing. The main condition for the successful performance of assigned tasks is well-practiced skills and full combat readiness to act in extreme conditions that are rapidly changing. To be ready, National Guardsmen constantly train and adapt to changes.
Fighters of the Vinnytsia unit of the National Guard train regularly to improve combat readiness. Such training includes skills in identifying enemy personnel and weapons, improving defensive and counterattack tactics. The ability to effectively use natural obstacles, create barriers and ambushes, as well as conduct reconnaissance of enemy positions.

National Guardsmen of the "Spartan" brigade destroy Russian attack aircraft in close combat

The Russian military tried to enter the positions of the Ukrainian defenders, but they were driven out with a fight by the guardsmen of the 3rd operational brigade "Spartan".

Units of the Russian Federation do not stop trying to further occupy Ukrainian land. Thus, in the Zaporozhye direction, infantry groups of the occupiers are constantly trying to storm the positions of the National Guard. Soldiers of the "Spartan" brigade have to engage in shooting battles with the occupiers, and despite the difficult conditions, the guardsmen successfully perform their tasks.

The enemy hides behind damaged equipment, in "holes" and in trenches. Close combat for the enemy ends in defeat and inevitable death. The fighters of the brigade "carry out" the Russians in pairs and "smoke out" them from the occupied positions with well-aimed grenade throws.

Thus, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers have already lost 354,960 personnel in the war against Ukraine.

In April 2023, during the opening stages of the Ukrainian counteroffensive south of Bakhmut, the 3rd Assault Brigade attempted an attack along the long leg of a T-shaped shelterbelt. The attack group of the 3rd Company reached the Russian position at the top of the "T" leg but ended up in heavy crossfire from both sides of the "T" top and had to retreat. The Russians conducted an assorted artillery barrage and attempted a counterattack. They were stopped at the main positions of the 1st Battalion, beaten back, and later, the 3rd SAB retook the entire shelterbelt.

To better show the scale of the operation, this film combines simultaneous recording from the GoPro cameras of Vlad "Datsyk," the commander of "The Decepticons" platoon, 2nd Company, 2nd Assault Bn, attacking along the power transmission line; Andriy "Darwin," the Company 1st Sergeant attacking with the 3rd Company of the 1st Assault Bn , through the shelterbelt; and assorted footage of the soldiers from the 1st Battalion at their main position.

The "Decepticons" raid without editing (almost)

The original footage of the "Deceptions" (2nd platoon, 2nd Company, 2nd Assault Battalion, 3rd SAB) attack against Russian VDV positions along a power line south of Bakhmut in April 2023, very early in the campaign.

This is one of the first recordings of the "Decepticons" in action. Parts of it were used in the BAKHMUT: In the Fog of War a film by the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade

The footage is from the platoon commander Vlad "Datsyk's" POV. The action is happening in real time with almost no editing -- the "Decepticons" wrapped up the entire operation in under 30 minutes, from drop to extraction.

To quote the "Decepticons" themselves: "We were expecting serious resistance from the VDV -- the so-called elite of the Russian armed forces. Instead, the fabled Russian paratroopers skulked into their hiding holed, and we had to disinfect the place with handgrenades."

3rd Assault Brigade: Assault on Andriivka, Part 1 -- The Way to the Village

On September 12, the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade commenced operations to liberate the village of Andriivka, south of Bakhmut.

This FPV footage captures units of the 3rd Company, 1st Assault Infantry Battalion, fight their way through a shelled-out shelterbelt toward Andriivka under sporadic mortar fire, eventually gaining a foothold at edge of the settlement.

From there, they engage in close combat amid the mountains of rubble, clearing the village of the remaining elements of the 72nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Russian Federation, and completely liberating Andriivka on September 16, 2023.

For "Gulliver" and his mortar squad, who fights as part of the 59th motorized infantry brigade, war is both work and life. He has been here since 2014. And this is his 10th winter at the front.

Every day, the Ukrainian special service methodically "minus" enemy armored vehicles in battles on the eastern and southern fronts.

Among the destroyed tanks of the aggressor country are the latest T-90 and T-90M, the cost of which is almost 5 million US dollars each.

First of all, the occupiers used this technique as part of the so-called "armored fists" to storm Avdiivka and Bakhmut.

The invaders also brought in heavy armored vehicles to deter the counteroffensive operations of the Ukrainian defenders in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions.

The effective destruction of Russian tanks on the battlefield was the result of filigree operational-combat operations of the SBU together with units of the Armed Forces.

A powerful arsenal of anti-tank weapons and modern unmanned aerial vehicles were involved in order to inflict maximum damage on Russian armored vehicles.

The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with other units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, continues to "utilize" the personnel and combat equipment of the Russian Federation and thereby brings our Victory closer.

3rd Assault Brigade: Assault on Andriivka, Part 2 -- Clearing the village

[Reupload at higher res] -- September 16, 2023, the 3rd Assault Brigade advances deeper into Andriivka. The 2nd Infantry Assault Battalion (including the "Decepticons" platoon) is tasked with mopping up the village.

The battle is far from over. Enemy elements are still present in the village. The "Decepticons" and other units of the 2nd Infantry Battalion move forward, house-to-house, engaging in close-range shooting under sporadic mortar fire, FPV drone attacks, and occasional airstrikes. The sweep continues until sunset.

Just like the Part 1 (
• 3rd Assault Brigade: Assault on Andri... ), this is combined GoPro footage from various attack squads of the 2nd Infantry Battalion. Thus, the POV changes between different units. At the moment, I am unable to identify the specific units involved, except for the "Decepticons" platoon in the first third and the final tally of the video.

365 days of planning and implementation of complex operations, effective exits behind enemy lines, dozens of enemy equipment destroyed, hundreds of Russians disposed of - that's how this year passed for the Special Operations Forces.

We are always there where it is most difficult: on the Avdiyiv, Kupyan, Bakhmut, Kherson, Zaporizhia directions.

In 2023, the SSO conducted a number of high-profile operations: some you have heard about, some are a secret. This is only a small part of combat work. Most of our gains are not in the media, but on the battlefield and behind enemy lines.

This year, we firmly resisted the Russian onslaught and at the same time relentlessly improved our own skills. They hardened and became more technological.

They turned their hatred into inflicting tangible losses on the enemy. Our units of psychological operations carried out tasks ranging from demoralizing the personnel of the Russian troops to supporting the Ukrainian resistance in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Our soldiers are destroying the invaders for the tenth year in a row, and we will not stop until victory. And 2024 will become even more hellish for the enemy!

The 49th separate assault battalion "Karpatska Sich" is fighting in a forest strip near the city of Kreminna. The Russians wanted to repulse this landing, but the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces met them with heavy fire.
