Uutistoimisto AFP siteerasi Carleton-Smithin haastattelua, jonka mukaan Venäjä on osoittanut halunsa käyttää sotilasvoimaansa kansallisten intressiensä eteen ja etsii keinoja iskeä lännen heikkoihin kohtiin.
”Venäjä on järjestelmällisesti etsinyt ja hyödyntänyt länsimaiden heikkoja kohtia, erityisesti ei-perinteisillä alueilla, kuten kyberturvallisuuden, avaruuden ja merenalaisen sodankäynnin osa-alueilla.”
Carleton-Smithin mukaan lännen on keskitettävä terrorismin sijaan katseensa nimenomaan Venäjän luomaan uhkaan.
Hänen mukaansa se tapahtuu sotilasliitto Naton kautta.
”Kaikkein tärkein perinteisistä sotilaskeinoista, jolla voidaan vastata Venäjän [uhkaan], piilee Naton kyvykkyydessä ja yhtenäisyydessä.”

Carleton-Smithin mukaan lännen on keskitettävä terrorismin sijaan katseensa nimenomaan Venäjän luomaan uhkaan.
Hänen mukaansa se tapahtuu sotilasliitto Naton kautta.
”Kaikkein tärkein perinteisistä sotilaskeinoista, jolla voidaan vastata Venäjän [uhkaan], piilee Naton kyvykkyydessä ja yhtenäisyydessä.”
Tämä on taas sitä tuubaa parhaimmillaan.
Poliittisesti korrektia paskaa. Britanniaan on 2000 luvulla isketty metroverkostoon sekä suoritettu useita muitakin terrori-iskuja viime vuosina.
Venäjä ei edes uskaltaisi käyttää aseellista voimaa Britanniaa vastaan. Royal airforce pudottaisi ryssän koneet helposti. Samaten merellä navy on suvereeni toimija. Muutama venäläinen toki yritetty myrkyttää onnistumatta siinä kuitenkaan Venäjän salaisen palvelun toimesta. Tuska lienee briteille pienempi kuin räjähdevöitä stadioneilla räjäyttelevät mullahit.

London turns to America after EU excludes Britain from Galileo satellite program

LONDON and SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — The United Kingdom is open to working with U.S. industry to build a new global navigation satellite system, following London being frozen out of the Galileo spacecraft program by the European Union, the British defense secretary said this weekend.
“We are very much open to" working with the U.S. on a new system, Gavin Williamson told reporters at the Dec. 2 Reagan National Defense Forum in California. “We will be very happy to work with allies, like-minded friends in terms of development, and it will be something that I think will bring quite considerable benefits."
“If you look at this, it isn’t something that necessarily will compete with the Global Positioning System," Williamson added. "And, actually, no single country should wish to be completely reliant on one system, and the EU, through Galileo, never let the U.S. effectively be able to have the access to the system that it would need.”
The remarks by Williamson came 48 hours after Britain hardened its negotiating position in the row with the European Union over being excluded from Galileo’s military and security data post Brexit, with Prime Minister Theresa May announcing in a statement the country would be pulling out of the project.
It is in Britain’s national interest to develop it’s own alternative system, May said, stating: “Given the [European] Commission’s decision to bar the UK from being fully involved in developing all aspects of Galileo it is only right that we find alternatives."
The £9 billion (U.S. $11 billion) Galileo system will comprise 30 satellites, made up of 24 operating systems with six orbiting spares. The U.K. has invested approximately £1.2 billion in the Galileo program to date, and British industry has provided key technologies, including much of the encrypted computed-based Public Regulated Service system, which is at the heart of payload elements providing data to military and security users for missile targeting and other requirements.
“Galileo has been built on our money, our technology, our research. So the idea that I’m going to continue, or the British government is going to continue, to pump money into a project where we do not have military access or commercial access, frankly, is both naive and optimistic on behalf of the European Union,” Williamson said.
“The United Kingdom — we have the technology, the ideas, the people. And frankly we will do our own with other allies, and I believe it will be more successful and it will be more formidable than anything that Europe can produce.”
In August the British government set aside £92 million to look at options to replace Galileo with a newer, more capable system, and Britain says it’s confident it has the technical know-how to build a new satellite navigation network.
Airbus CEO Tom Enders weighed into the row on Dec. 3, tweeting that the U.K.’s departure from Galileo would be a “serious blow to the EU’s common security and defence ambitions.”
“Don’t those talking about a European army know that the UK is one of only two serious military powers in Europe?” he said on Twitter.
Last week it emerged Airbus had relocated 80 jobs from Britain to the continent to enable work on the project to be completed.
As to partnering in the U.S., Williamson said the focus will be more working with industry stateside than coordinating directly with the Pentagon.
“It will very much be working with U.S. defense companies, but also much more broadly in terms of allies. But it’s a dialogue that needs to develop," the defense secretary said. “If that is something that the Department of Defense looks at with interest in the future, it would be good to have that discussion [and get the] ducks in a row in order to be able to take forward a proper proposition.”
Australia is another country that has been touted as a possible partner in any future system.

Nuo venäläiset liikemiehet eivät nyt mitään puhtaimpia pulmusia ole esim. korruption suhteen, yms... niin en ihmettele mahdollisia yhteyksiä Putiniin. Varsinkin kun ottaa huomioon kuinka useat venäläiset miljardöörit rikastuivat ensinnäkään. Heillä oli Neuvostoliiton hajottua oikeat yhteydet hallituksen miehiin, jotka päättivät ketkä saavat mitä osia valtion omaisuudesta isossa yksityistämisvyyhdissä. Ja sitten nämä jotka olivat mm. Putinin kanssa hyvää pataa saivatkin mukavia määriä omaisuutta. Joten en yhtään ihmettele miksi venäläkset liikemiehet tulisi käydä läpi sen varalta, että ovat Putinin taskussa.

Nuo venäläiset liikemiehet ovat putin&co:n rakennelman osa, putinia laitettuu takaamaan heidän miljardit. Kukaan ei mene takuuseen että maata "johtaa" joku esim. Setchin ja putte vain "presidenttina". Emme tiedä miten valta siellä loppujen lopuksi jakautu heidän kesken. Mutta ne kaikki ovat todellisia maan omistajia ja siksi ovat kaikki vastussa agressiostakin muita valtioita kohtaan. Voi olla että putinilla itsellään nyt enemmään valtaa, ja muilla vähemmän. Mutta kukaan ei tietää, kun kyseessä näin suuret rahat, miten ne loppujen lopuksi jakautu.
Totta kai paljon miljardien liikkumisesta selvä esim. USAn finanssiministeriölle ja muille palveluille jotka pitävät silmällä ja tutkivat putin&co mafian rahoja silmällä. Ja Millerin tutkinta ov vasta alullaan.

Minua hävetti ja kauhistutti komission puheenjohtajan Jean-Claude Junckerin lausunto Euroopan parlamentille Strasbourgissa: ”Nykyinen brexit-sopimus on paras ja ainoa mahdollinen eikä sitä enää avata.” Onpa siinä mielestäni huono lausunto sellaisen EU:n edustajana, jossa Suomikin on mukana.
Asioita pitäisi ymmärtää laajemmin. Katsokaa Iso Britannian asemaa maailmassa ja jopa maailmanhistoriassa. EU:n jäsenmaat ovat kiitollisuuden velassa tuolle maalle 2. maailmansodan vaikeiden aikojen sinnikkäänä taistelijana. Jos ei osata antaa tälle maalle sen ansaitsemaa kunnioitusta, on EU:n syytä ajatella asioita uudelleen ja tarvittaessa vaihdettava johtajiaan.

Tämä brexit-pöhinä on saanut kyllä kaikki parhaat valtioneuvottelujen puolet esiin. Nyt puuttuu enää brittien artikla 50 peruutus, koska aika kului umpeen. Sitten sen laskurin voikin taas aloittaa uudelleen seuraavana päivänä aktivoimalla artikla 50 uudelleen, kunnes haluttu hyvä sopimus on kasassa. Ja sitten Eun pyöröovessa onkin koko ajan joukko valtioita menossa, muttei kuitenkaan pois, kun on hyvä malli avattuna. Oujee.

En kopsannut alle kaikkea koska erittäin paljon tavaraa mutta poliisi on väijymässä droneja HK417 kalustolla, lupa ampua alas ja kahdesta ammattimaisesta dronekuskista ollut ainakin mainintaa aiheen ympärillä.

Wearing plain clothes and standing by a 4x4, the sharpshooters were seen having a briefing next to the tarmac.
The last time the drone was seen flying over the airport at was between 11am and noon today, a spokesman for Gatwick confirmed.
The team's deployment comes as families trying to escape around the world for the holiday period faced 24 hours of delays at Britain's second busiest airport.
Travellers have been told to abandon their flights and stay at home after the drones were flown inside the perimeter fence.
The disruption is expected to run into tomorrow with Gatwick officials unable to say when the airport will be back running as normal.
Gatwick's Christmas chaos - what we know so far...
Gatwick officials tweeted: "All flights to and from Gatwick are suspended due to ongoing drone activity activity around the airport. Unfortunately, there are significant delays and cancellations to all flights today.
"Please do not travel to the airport without checking the status of your flight with your airline first. We apologise to everyone affected, but the safety of all our passengers and staff is our no.1 priority."
Cops have launched a mass hunt for those responsible with a police helicopter joining the search in the early hours.
Speaking this morning, a spokesman for Sussex Police could not confirm how many suspects were wanted but said the major security breach was not "terror related".
Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw, Gatwick Airport policing commander, said: “Each time we believe we get close to the operator, the drone disappears; when we look to reopen the airfield, the drone reappears. I'm absolutely convinced it's a deliberate act to disrupt Gatwick Airport'.”

Festive holidaymakers have been warned to expect disruption for another 24 hours at least with airport officials unable to give a time-frame for when normal service can be resumed.

The team's deployment comes as families trying to escape around the world for the holiday period faced 24 hours of delays at Britain's second busiest airport.
Travellers have been told to abandon their flights and stay at home after the drones were flown inside the perimeter fence.
The disruption is expected to run into tomorrow with Gatwick officials unable to say when the airport will be back running as normal.

Gatwick officials tweeted: "All flights to and from Gatwick are suspended due to ongoing drone activity activity around the airport. Unfortunately, there are significant delays and cancellations to all flights today.
"Please do not travel to the airport without checking the status of your flight with your airline first. We apologise to everyone affected, but the safety of all our passengers and staff is our no.1 priority."
Cops have launched a mass hunt for those responsible with a police helicopter joining the search in the early hours.
Speaking this morning, a spokesman for Sussex Police could not confirm how many suspects were wanted but said the major security breach was not "terror related".
Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw, Gatwick Airport policing commander, said: “Each time we believe we get close to the operator, the drone disappears; when we look to reopen the airfield, the drone reappears. I'm absolutely convinced it's a deliberate act to disrupt Gatwick Airport'.”

If convicted the drone operators could face up to five years in prison.
