Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signed a landmark deal with U.S. and Israeli gas companies to develop Israel's offshore gas deposits, despite months of protest by liberal lawmakers and environmentalists.

Rocket fired from Gaza towards Israel’s south for the second time this week
A Red Color alert was sounded this evening in Israel’s south, after a rocket fired from Gaza exploded in an open area in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. No one was injured and no damages were caused.

A Red Color alert was sounded this evening (Thursday) in the area of the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. A short while later it was discovered that a rocket fired from Gaza exploded in an open area in the council's territory. No one was injured and no damages were caused as a result.
This was the second rocket launching towards Israel this week, after on Sunday evening rockets were fired towards the Gaza Envelope. No one was injured and no damage was caused in that incident either.
In response to Sunday’s shooting, the IDF attacked two Hamas targets in northern and central Gaza. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that they saw Hamas as being solely responsible for what takes place in the Gaza Strip. “The IDF will continue to operate aggressively in order to maintain the quiet in Israel’s south,” the IDF’s announcement read.

Three rockets were fired from Lebanon to Israel and exploded in an open area near Nahariyya. There was no reports of injuries or damage. At 5:40pm, the bomb sirens were heard in many communities in the Western Galilee and Nahariyya.
Residents of the area reported hearing explosions a short while after the bomb sirens. Northern Israeli residents feel the tension after it became clear that a rocket exploded near Nahariyya and security forces are now searching for the rocket. Lebanon reported that a rocket was fired into Israeli territory after reports that Hezbollah terror leader Samir Kuntar was eliminated. The IDF responded to the fire in a number of places in Lebanon.

Last Magic Wand defense system test was successful
Just before the system becomes operational and will be absorbed in the Israeli Air Force, the aerial defense system underwent a test. The Magic Wand will join the Iron Dome and the Arrow in defending Israel from rocket attacks.

A short while after the elimination of Samir Kuntar and Lebanon firing three rockets into Israel, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced the completion of the successful test for the new aerial defense system in Israel’s arsenal known as the Magic Wand. It is said to be the last test before the system is announced to be operational.
The Magic Wand system is reminiscent of the Iron Dome system for short range rockets but this system is designed to protect Israel against missiles and medium range rockets similar to the type that Lebanon possesses. The system was tested in Southern Israel by the Raphael Company. During the examination, the Magic Wand successfully completed the interception.
“The success of the test is the last milestone in the development of the system ahead of its delivery to the Air Force and it will be announced to be operational in 2016,” the Defense Ministry stated. The Magic Wand is considered a revolutionary new system among interception systems across the world. The system will increase the opportunity to intercept longer range missiles.

The Israeli Air Force reportedly carried out an airstrike in Syria that killed Samir Quntar, a notorious Hezbollah member, and nine others on Dec. 19. Quntar was likely a mid-level Hezbollah operative directing some of the group’s operations in southern Syria. He achieved notoriety for carrying out an attack in Israel’s northern city of Nahariya in 1979, during which he murdered an Israeli father and his four-year-old child, subsequently becoming a symbol within Hezbollah.
According to reports of sources close to Hezbollah, two Israeli F-15I strike fighters took off from Hatzerim Airbase in the Negev and headed north. When they reached the Sea of Galilee, the Israeli pilots fired four SPICE 2000 smart bombs and struck the building outside of Damascus in which Quntar was located. The smart bombs traveled approximately 56 miles before striking Quntar and his Hezbollah contingent. According to reports, the Israeli jets never crossed over the 1974 Israeli-Syrian ceasefire lines. Syrian Army observatories noticed them flying over the Sea of Galilee before releasing their ordinance, all the while within Israeli territory.
Reports indicate that Quntar had been living in that building for the past year and that he had arrived at the apartment early that Dec. 19 morning, spending 12 hours there before the Israeli missiles struck. The apartment in which he was killed by the Israeli strike was is said to have served as Quntar’s operations room. Among the others killed in the attack were two individuals identified as either Mohammad orTayseer Na’so, a commander and companion of Quntar, and Farhan Al-Shaalan, the commander of the Syrian Resistance to Liberate the Golan established by Hezbollah approximately two years ago.
Both Israel and the Assad regime in Damascus have remained silent on the operation, leaving statements made by pro-Hezbollah media as the only source of information on the strike. However, Free Syrian Army elements calling themselves the “Knights of the Houran Brigade” tried to claim responsibility for killing Quntar. This claim that was vehemently denied by Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah in his speech on Dec. 21.

The Israeli Air Force reportedly carried out an airstrike in Syria that killed Samir Quntar, a notorious Hezbollah member, and nine others on Dec. 19. Quntar was likely a mid-level Hezbollah operative directing some of the group’s operations in southern Syria. He achieved notoriety for carrying out an attack in Israel’s northern city of Nahariya in 1979, during which he murdered an Israeli father and his four-year-old child, subsequently becoming a symbol within Hezbollah.
According to reports of sources close to Hezbollah, two Israeli F-15I strike fighters took off from Hatzerim Airbase in the Negev and headed north. When they reached the Sea of Galilee, the Israeli pilots fired four SPICE 2000 smart bombs and struck the building outside of Damascus in which Quntar was located. The smart bombs traveled approximately 56 miles before striking Quntar and his Hezbollah contingent. 2 terrorists armed with knives stabbed 3 Israelis near Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is the main entrance to the Old City within the Israeli capital city. Border Policemen in the area opened fire on the terrorists and neutralized them.
Magen David Adom provided initial medical treatment to the injured and evecuated them to a local hospital. All 3 of the victims were critically injured.
"When we arrived, there were 3 injured people, with one of their lives really being in danger," Nahum Bernstein, the Deputy Head of the Jerusalem Branch of the Rescue Services, stated. "It is a difficult scene for pedestrians on their way to the Western Wall."
