On se ihan totta. Nyt tarkentunut että 4 WIA (2 vakavasti), ei kuolleita. Oli ilmeisesti tähystyslaukaistu melko iso räjähde. 3 sairaalassa leikkauksessa.

The spokesperson said that the patrol — made up of Golani infantry soldiers and members of a combat engineering unit — was operating with standard procedures to remove any foreign object from the border fence, but that these would now be reviewed.

Investigation reveals pilot error determined as cause of Israeli F-16 crash
According to an Israeli Air Force investigation, the pilot and navigator of the fighter jet that was downed by Syrian fire about two weeks ago made an operation error and failed to address the incoming threat of enemy missiles. However, the investigators determined that they made the correct decision when they ejected from the aircraft.

The pilot of the Israeli fighter jet that crashed in Israel about two weeks ago made an operational mistake, which led to the downing of his plane by Syrian fire, according to the military. On Sunday, the IDF Spokesperson released the findings of the investigation into an Iranian drone’s infiltration of Israeli airspace and the downing of the F-16, which had carried out a strike in Syria in response to the breach of Israel’s sovereignty.

The findings showed that the preparations for the strike were carried out correctly and resulted in a successful mission—the complete destruction of the predetermined targets in Syria. The jet was one of several aircraft that were sent to carry out the mission.

After examining the downed plane’s systems, the Israeli Air Force reached the conclusion that they functioned properly and gave the pilot and navigator information about the threat of Syrian missile fire in time.

According to the findings, the pilot and navigator did not take the proper evasive measures, opting to complete their mission instead of protecting their aircraft from the enemy missiles. “His [the pilot’s] actions did not match the order of priorities required for the missile threat in which he was,” the report stated.
However, the report stressed that despite the pilot’s error, which resulted in the aircraft sustaining Syrian fire and crashing, the crew’s decision to eject from the plane was the correct course of action.

“The team did not address the threat and thus [the aircraft] was hit. He [the pilot] made a mistake,” a senior IAF official said, criticizing the investigation’s findings. “They should have abandoned the mission and addressed the incoming threat. Their decision did not suit the threat.”
“The mission was carried out, but the plane should not have been downed,” he concluded.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said Israeli troops have disposed of a bomb placed near the Gaza border fence. The successful operation took place in the early morning hours on Thursday.
According to the army's statement, the bomb was placed near the fence during riots two weeks ago, after which a similar bomb exploded and injured four IDF soldiers. In both cases, the bombs were attached to a Palestinian flag meant to lure the soldiers closer to it.

Last week, three Palestinian rioters were reported dead in clashes with IDF soldiers during Friday riots near Khan Yunis and in the northern Gaza Strip.

Report: Top Saudi, Israeli officials meet in Egypt for secret talks
A Palestinian Authority official told an UAE-based newspaper on Friday that senior Israeli and Saudi officials recently met in Egypt for a series of secret talks. According to the official, a possible détente between the kingdom and Israel would harm the Palestinians.

Senior Israeli and Saudi officials reportedly met in Cairo last week for a series of talks discussing mutual economic interests, an unnamed Palestinian Authority official told the Al Khaleej Times Friday.
According to the Iranian Press TV media outlet, the official said that the Egypt-brokered meetings were a major development in the apparent warming relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel. The PA official also warned that a détente between the two nations would harm the Palestinians.

Riyadh and Jerusalem have never had official diplomatic relations. However, especially in recent months, reports about emerging Saudi-Israeli relations have surfaced—mainly due to the fact that both countries view Iran as a serious threat.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Saudi Arabia has granted Indian Air permission to use its airspace when flying to and from Tel Aviv. The Saudi decision was seen as a significant development in the kingdom’s orientation toward Israel because in the past 70 years, it has never allowed an airline to use its airspace when flying directly to or from the Jewish state.

IAF official defends Iron Dome operators' decision to fire
Brig. Gen. Zvika Haimovich, the head of the Israeli Air Defense Command, said operating the Iron Dome system on Sunday was not a mistake, stressing that even though no rockets had been fired into Israel, the potential threat was enough to justify the firing.

A day after the Iron Dome system fired about 20 projectiles into the air following red alert sirens caused by a Hamas military drill in Gaza, an Israeli Air Force official says the firing was the right thing to do.

"The Iron Dome operators acted professionally and with good judgement after (the system) identified the machine gun fire as rockets targeting Israeli towns bordering Gaza," said Brig. Gen. Zvika Haimovich, the head of the Israeli Air Defense Command.

"Whenever there's a dilemma regarding a potential threat, we don't take even the smallest of risks," he said. "The cost of the projectiles is not a consideration. The response time in these kinds of incidents is about five seconds."

On Sunday evening, machine gun fire from the Gaza Strip triggered red alert sirens in multiple locations surrounding the Strip. The IDF later stated that no rockets had been fired into Israel.

No kuitenkin näistä (yhteensä) 16 kuolleesta ainakin 10 kuuluu terroristiryhmiin The Times of Israelin mukaan:

"The Israeli military on Saturday night identified 10 of the 16 people reported killed during violent protests along the Gaza security fence as members of Palestinian terrorist groups, and published a list of their names and positions in the organizations."

https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-a...at-gaza-border-were-members-of-terror-groups/

Shin-Bet, IDF foil PIJ terrorist attack on navy vessels
Israeli security forces revealed on Wednesday that an intricate terrorist plot planned by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad against the IDF’s navy was recently foiled. 10 Palestinians from Rafah were arrested on board a fishing boat that was collecting intelligence on IDF vessels in preparation for the attack.

The Israeli Shin-Bet and IDF navy have arrested 10 Palestinians from Rafah suspected of planning an attack on an IDF marine vessel, Israeli security forces reveled on Wednesday. The operation took place three weeks ago and was recently released for publication.

As part of the attempted attack, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) was planning to launch a missile onto an IDF navy boat off the Gaza coast, after which they would abduct any surviving or slain soldiers. The terrorist group planned to lure the Israeli troops closer with several fishing boats.

According to a joint statement by the Shin-Bet and the IDF, the plot was foiled on March 12 after a navy patrol squadron discovered and seized a Palestinian boat that had left the designated fishing zone near Gaza in order to collect intelligence on Israeli troops. The Palestinians on board were arrested and taken into questioning.

Among those detained is fisherman Amin Saadi Muhammad Jumma’a, 24, a PIJ terrorist who was indicted on Wednesday for planning a terrorist attack and collecting intelligence on IDF troops. During his questioning, Jumma’a revealed he had received instructions from PIJ’s leader in Rafah to carry out the attack as part of the terrorist group’s retaliation following the destruction of terror tunnels by the IDF in October.

Jumma’a told Israeli interrogators that the plan was for one boat to act as a diversion by leaving the fishing zone, a second boat would attack the ship with a Kornet (anti-tank) missile and a third boat would then arrive and take hostages and the bodies of those killed. In preparation for the attack, Jumma’a carried out observation missions to collect intelligence about the location of the navy ships and the number of soldiers and weaponry on board. According to Israeli security forces, the nine other suspects are not members of the PIJ terrorist group.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday congratulated the security forces for foiling the terrorist plot. “This serves as evidence to the real intentions of the terrorist groups in Gaza, who are attempting to camouflage their murderous plans with provocations along the security fence,” Netanyahu said. “The purpose [of the protests] is to cover for terrorists planning to carry out terrorist activity against Israel.”

CENTCOM commander visits Israel amid regional tensions
Following the wave of Iranian threats and the recent attack on a Syrian airbase, allegedly carried out by Israel, CENTCOM commander Gen. Joseph Votel is visiting Israel. During his visit, he is expected to meet with Israeli defense officials.

In the wake of the recent Iranian threats and the possible US withdrawal from Syria, Commander of CENTCOM Gen. Joseph Votel has arrived in Israel for an unannounced visit, Israel’s Kan broadcasting corporation reported on Monday. Votel will be visiting for several days and is expected to meet with Israeli defense officials, including IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot and head of the National Security Council Meir Ben-Shabbat.

Votel’s arrival comes at a time of heightening tensions between Israel, Iran and Syria and after the alleged Israeli attack on an airbase in Syria. In addition, Israel is currently worried about the possible evacuation of the American forces in Syria, which are under Votel’s command, following a rise in Iranian activities in the country. An Israeli official told Kan that this is Votel’s first visit to Israel.

CENTCOM’s spokesperson confirmed Votel’s visit to Israel and the IDF’s spokesperson told Kan: “The general is on a formal visit as Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot’s guest. During the visit, he will meet with officials in order to strengthen the bond between the militaries and discuss regional defense matters. This is the first time ever that the commander of the US Central Command has visited Israel.”

Over the weekend, Iran continued sending threats towards Israel. Deputy-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards Hussein Salami said that “Israel is under a threat of fire both from the north and the south and there will be no way to escape besides into the sea.” Salami also stated that “Israel has no strategic depth and it shouldn’t count on its air-force bases because they are in our missiles’ range. The US and Britain will not help because it will no longer be.”

Israeli Minister of Defense Avigdor Liberman commented on Salami’s threats the same day, “They shouldn’t test the IDF nor the State of Israel. We are prepared for any scenario. If someone is warmongering, his blood will be on his head.”

Some 50,000 Palestinians are protesting in 12 locations along the Gaza border on Monday as part of the massive “Great March of Return” that was organized by Hamas. The protest is expected to grow to include over 60,000 participants in the next few hours, as the opening ceremony of the US embassy in Jerusalem nears.

According to Hadashot news, Palestinians are setting fire to piles of tires to create black smoke that will make it harder for the Israeli troops to see terrorists who approach the fence. Meanwhile, flaming kites from Gaza have sparked two fires near Kibbutz Mefalsim and Kibbutz Kfar Aza.

Palestinians claim that nearly 1,000 protesters have been injured so far. The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza has placed the death toll at 37. The number is expected to grow as the violence continues. According to Israeli pundits, what has happened in the past few hours is only the beginning, and the worst is expected to occur during the opening ceremony of the US embassy and tomorrow, which is Nakba Day.

The IDF has confirmed that three armed terrorists who tried to plant an explosive device along the border near Rafah were eliminated by Israeli troops. In addition, Israeli aircraft attacked a Hamas post in Jabalia after terrorists opened fire from it, targeting IDF soldiers on the opposite side of the security fence. No injuries were reported among the Israeli troops.

The IDF is mainly concerned that hundreds of Palestinians could attempt to breach the Gaza security barrier today and if successful, they would terrorize Israeli communities close to the border, start fires and destroy properties. Therefore, the army has distributed leaflets warning Palestinians against participating in violent terrorist acts, such as damaging the security fence and trying to cross into Israel. In addition, IDF soldiers have been instructed to shoot to eliminate any person who attempts to damage or cross the border fence.

On Sunday evening, the IDF released an English-language video about Hamas’s plans for Monday, warning that the terrorist group wants to “carry out a massacre in Israel.”

“On Monday May 14th, the Hamas terrorist organization plans to send armed terrorists, among 250,000 violent rioters to swarm and breach Israel’s border with Gaza and enter Israeli communities,” an IDF spokeswoman said in the video.
