Suomessa varuskuntia lakkautetaan Venäjällä rakenetaan uusia.

MOSCOW, June 27 (RIA Novosti) – About 100 new defense infrastructure facilities, including airfields and Army and Navy maintenance and supply bases, will be built in Russia to accommodate new weapon systems, a top military official said Thursday.

By 2016, 316 garrison towns are to be built, their number due to increase to 495 by 2020, said General Valery Gerasimov, chief of the General Staff of Russia’s Armed Forces, adding that more than 3,000 facilities, including barracks, parking lots, cafeterias, etc., would be built in those locations.

All of those facilities will be put into operation months before new arms and military equipment are delivered, he said. Other installations are slated to include air, land and naval test sites and advanced training centers

Se tukikohta Valko Venäjällä saa myös SU-34

Moscow, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) The first Russian air base in Belarus, close to the common border with Lithuania and Poland, will have Russian bombers Sukhoi-34 (Su-34) popularly known as "flying tanks" as a key component, said an expert here Friday.
Igor Korotchenko, director of magazine "National Defense", said that the Kremlin wants to turn the Su-34 into the best bomber in the entire world, and will constitute the core of the Russian fortress in Lida, northeast of Belarus.

Specialists pointed out that the Su-34, a flying fortress itself, synthesizes the concept of "universal plane", because it has technical parameters hard to join one with the other.

On one side, the Su-34 has modern high speed and manoeuvrability regulations, and at the same time has a great artillery load and considerable flight autonomy.

Experts said the Su-34 inherits the best of the Russian military aircraft. The beginnings of its design come from the middle of the 80's.

The Russian bomber incorporates high technology computers, polychromatic active matrix indicators, satellite navigation receivers, a new communication system, bigger action ratio, a cabin for two pilots and titanium armour plating for the cabin, with 17 milimeters of thickness.

Its engines have enviable power, moving -or displacing- a weight of 45.1 tons including the weapons and the fuel tanks filled up, equivalent to the weight of a T-90S tank.

It can carry up to 8,000 kilograms of weapons and ammunition.

Even carrying all this weight, the Su-34 reaches a maximum height of 15 kilometres (9.3 miles), a maximum speed of 1,900 km/h (1, 180 miles per hour) and a maximum flight autonomy of 4,000 km (2,485 miles) with inner reserves of fuel.

The two-pilot crew can operate an arsenal placed in 12 points of connection, which include a 30-milimeter gun, bombs, missiles and rockets.

This bomber can flight for combat operations in daylight and in the evening, against air, ground or naval targets in individual or squad missions.

It can operate in normal or adverse weather conditions, face interferences by the enemy, computer measures and anti-air fire.

Four modern air defence radars protects Moscow

Troops of Russia's space and air defense gets four new air defense radar systems Vsevysotnyj obnaruzjitel (Detector for all heights). It is expected that these radars are going to protect Moscow's skies from all sides after they are in use.

These reconnaissance means allow to detect air targets, including winged missiles from afar. Their use allows the early detection and, if necessary, counter enemy air attack.

It will equip air defense and missile repository for all devices with these modern radar engines over the next five years.

Russia prepares supersonic precision weapons

During the period 2018-2025, Russia can get a new supersonic precision weapons, said the Russian Defense Ministry's deputy director Yury Borisov in his interview to the media.

Borisov declared that Americans also agree on and draws a similar weapon and remarked that the fight against such weapons can be considerably cheaper than its creation.

Cyrpus in Talks to Host Russian Air Force

From Famagusta Gazzette: Cyprus is exploring the possibility of facilitating, in certain cases, Russian Air Force at the military airbase “Andreas Papandreou” in Pafos, the Defence Minister said on Sunday. He added that there is no discussion of conceding the base to Russia.

Asked if there is any link between the extension of 2.5 bln euros loan Moscow has granted to Nicosia in 2011 and Russia’s military facilitation, the Minister said that “there is no question of granting concessions”.

He added that Cyprus is already facilitating Russian navy, as is the case with other countries.

He said moreover that the possibility of providing the airbase in Pafos, in certain cases, has been discussed during his recent visit to Moscow, both with his Russian counterpart and the Foreign Minister [Sergei] Lavrov.

From Voice of Russia: The agreement being drafted will extend beyond the existing understandings to allow Russian ships to dock at Limassol, [Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis] Kasoulides said in an interview with Voice of Russia radio station, commenting on media reports that Cyprus was ready to allow the Russian air force to use the airbase in Paphos.

The relevant technical details will be considered by a committee of representatives of the two countries, which is to start working soon, Kasoulides said.

Venäjä ei aio luovuttaa tietovuotaja Edward Snowdenia Yhdysvaltoihin, sanoi presidentti Vladimir Putin maanantaina.

Jos Snowden kuitenkin haluaa jatkaa oleskeluaan Moskovassa, hänen on Putinin mukaan lopetettava Yhdysvaltoja vahingoittavat paljastuksensa.

- Venäjä ei koskaan luovuta ketään mihinkään, eikä aio tehdä sitä nytkään, Putin sanoi.

Los Angeles Times -lehden mukaan Snowden hakee poliittista turvapaikkaa 15 maasta ja hän jätti hakemukset venäläisdiplomaateille, joita tapasi Moskovan lentokentällä.

Massive Snap Military Drills Begin in Eastern Russia

The Russian military began early on Saturday large-scale exercises in the Eastern Military District aimed at improving combat readiness of the Russian armed forces, the Defense Ministry said.

The exercise, which involves over 80,000 servicemen, some 1,000 armored vehicles, 130 aircraft and 70 warships from the Pacific Fleet, will continue until July 20. It is the largest surprise check of combat readiness of the Russian military in the post-Soviet period.

“The main goal of the drills is to check the readiness of units to carry out their missions, and to assess the quality of their training and technical preparedness,” the ministry said in a statement.

The snap drills were ordered by President Vladimir Putin on Friday when he told Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to inform foreign countries about the upcoming exercises, taking into account their scale and common international practice.

It is the third surprise check of combat readiness since the beginning of the year and follows a major shake-up at the top of a military establishment tarnished by persistent evidence of rampant corruption.

Putin said in May that surprise military drills is a perfect way to keep the armed forces in good shape and vowed to continue similar practices in the future.

The Eastern Military District is one of the four operational strategic commands of the Russian Armed Forces. The district was formed in 2010. It absorbed the territories of the former Far East Military District and part of the former Siberian Military District with headquarters at Khabarovsk.

MOSCOW, July 17 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian military is planning to purchase aerial drones in the United Arab Emirates, a defense industry source said Wednesday.

“We are talking about at least two United 40 Block 5 models developed by the company ADCOM Systems,” the source, who preferred to remain anonymous, told RIA Novosti.

United 40 is a medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), designed to carry out near real-time combat assessment, special and reconnaissance operations and communications relays.

The vehicle can carry up to 10 air-to-ground missiles with a delivery range of 60 kilometers and fly for up to 120 hours, according to the developer.

The diplomatic initiatives were anonymously voiced to Reuters by multiple Gulf state diplomats and senior leaders of the Syrian opposition, in the wake of last week’s meeting in Moscow between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi National Security Council chief Prince Bandar bin-Sultan. The Saudi politician has orchestrated his country’s foreign policy in recent months.

"Bandar offered to intensify energy, military and economic cooperation with Moscow," a senior Syrian opposition figure told Reuters.

"Bandar sought to allay two main Russian fears: that Islamist extremists will replace Assad, and that Syria would become a conduit for Gulf, mainly Qatari, gas at the expense of Russia."

The $15 billion figure was touted by a representative of the anti-Assad opposition, which Saudi Arabia has strongly backed throughout the rebellion in Syria which has lasted more than two years. Meanwhile, a Gulf source claimed that no specific figure was involved.

Moscow and Riyadh, which traditionally acquires its arms from the United States, have had a massive contract on ice since 2008. Under Saudi Arabia’s terms, Russia would supply a huge assortment of equipment, including 150 T-90 tanks and more than 100 attack helicopters.

In the past, Moscow has supplied billions of dollars worth of weapons to Assad, as well as maintained a naval base in Syria.

Together with China, it has consistently blocked UN Security Council resolutions, saying they do not place any demands on the opposition - only on Assad.

Sources indicate that Bandar asked Putin to not oppose any future Security Council resolutions on Syria.

Bandar also reportedly assured Putin that Gulf states will not challenge Russia’s dominant position in the European gas markets, and assured him that extremist Islamic forces – which have gained prominence in the conflict – will not attempt to monopolize power in a future Syrian state.

Venäjän eteläisen sotilaspiirin moottoroitu jalkaväki on aloittanut sotaharjoitukset Tsetseniassa. Tsetseniaan sijoitetulle moottoroidulle jalkaväelle annettiin tänään harjoitushälytys. Harjoituksiin osallistuu yli 500 sotilasta ja 200 sotakonetta, sanotaan Venäjän puolustusministeriön tiedotteessa. Harjoituksissa on tarkoitus hioa suunnistamista tuntemattomalla alueella ja torjua hypoteettisen vihollisen hyökkäys.
 

Tuli tuosta mieleen voipi naapurinkin kuljetus kalusto olla kovilla noiden telavehkeiden kuskaamisten kanssa.

Se kertoo, että Flankereiden lentotunnit on kalliimpia, mikä nyt on ollut selvää koko ajan. Eikä ero MiG-29SMT lentäjien lentotuntien ja venäläisten pilottien keskiarvon välillä ole mikään massiivinen eli voi hyvinkin olla Flanker-yksiköitä, jotka lentää ainakin lähes yhtä paljon kuin Kurskin miehet.
 
Epätodellinen näky uimarannalla – Venäjän armeija: Normaalia

Mechnikovon uimarannalla Venäjällä todistettiin äskettäin epätodellista näkyä. Video tapahtumasta alla.

Hiekkarannalle rantautui keskellä kirkasta päivää Venäjän armeijan valtava Zubr-sota-alus, kertovat muun muassa Sky News ja Business Insider venäläislehti Komsomolskaya Pravdaan viitaten. Alus nostatti ympärilleen vesi- ja sumupilven, jonka keskeltä se lipui ihmisten täyttämälle rannalle.

Kukaan ei loukkaantunut välikohtauksessa. Venäjän puolustusministeriö vahvistaa tapahtuman Komsomolskaya Pravdalle. Armeijan edustajan mukaan alus suoritti taktista harjoitusta.

–Rantautuminen on normaali tapahtuma, puolustusministeriön edustaja sanoo.
