"The second point is the destruction of world sports. The country that has given so much to world sports - athletes, achievements, sports facilities, and has successfully hosted the Olympic Games twice - is being excluded from world sports, thereby destroying it."

"They are mocking athletes from Belarus in the same way. For what? We have heard explanations that it is allegedly for aggression. But we understand perfectly well that this is not Russia's aggression towards Ukraine, but a hybrid war of the West against our country," Zakharova continued. "Even if they had such logic, they would have to go through all the hot spots, they would have to take stock of all the conflicts. But this does not relate to issues of justice. Historically, we have been treated as those who should not manage and use their subsoil and resources. This relates to their desire to completely change, distort world sports, which were based on the principles of Olympism. They have a desire to replace these principles with pseudo-ideals and pseudo-values. Look at what is happening with genders, what is happening with the politicization of sports, when in order to win you need to shout out some slogan or swear allegiance to some political philosophy."

The Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11. Restrictions remain in effect for Russian and Belarusian athletes. In Paris, they will be able to compete only in neutral status, they will be prohibited from demonstrating any connection with their countries and from taking part in team competitions. The Russian authorities consider the corresponding decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be discriminatory and contrary to Olympic principles.

Venäjän perinteinen metsäpalokausi on menossa. Jakutian ja Taka-Baikalin alueilla palojen sammuttamisessa on vaikeuksia, Hätätilaministeriö kuvaa tilannetta epäedulliseksi. Tällähetkellä maassa on 500 metsäpaloa ja n. 1 miljoona hehtaaria metsää on tulessa eli noin Varsinais-Suomen kokoinen alue.

The forecast for forest fires in Yakutia and the Trans-Baikal Territory remains unfavorable, Russian Emergencies Ministry head Alexander Kurenkov reported on July 10.

"By decision of the government commission, the situation in the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Zabaikalsky Krai has been classified as an emergency situation in the forests of federal character. The forecast remains unfavorable," he said at a meeting of government members, which was held under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Kurenkov, since the beginning of the year, almost 6 thousand natural fires have been recorded in Russia on a total area of more than 3.5 million hectares. Although their number has decreased by 30% compared to last year's figures, the area covered by fire has increased by one and a half times.

Currently, there are over 500 forest fires burning in the country, covering an area of over 1 million hectares, the minister said. Of these, only 62, or 12%, have been localized, with 15 fires burning near populated areas.

Kurenkov also noted that in a number of regions, dry, hot weather has set in and the fire hazard class remains high, so the forces and resources of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are ensuring the protection of populated areas from the spread of fire.

In particular, one Be-200 aircraft and two Mi-8 helicopters were deployed in advance to Yakutia and the Trans-Baikal Territory for this purpose, and are now actively operating.

In total, over 6,000 people, 700 pieces of equipment and 50 aircraft are involved in extinguishing forest fires, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

During the first two months of summer, many regions of Russia have been in a difficult situation with forest fires. Recently, a state of emergency was declared in Yakutia and Buryatia because of them. It was also declared in the forests of Krasnoyarsk Krai because of the heat. On July 6, a forest fire almost surrounded the village of Novaya Chara in Zabaikalsky Krai, and local residents helped to extinguish it. It was reported that 1,500 people were fighting forest fires in Zabaikalsky Krai.

In June, fire hazard warnings were also announced in the Magadan and Chelyabinsk regions. In addition, since the start of the fire season, more than 300 forest fires have been recorded in the Khabarovsk region.

Se on sitä mielten muokkausta. Viestihistoria paljastaa kyllä tuollaiset, koska kaikki viestit on samaa sarjaa.
