Medinsky Allows for Reduction of Time for Education in Schools and Universities
MURMANSK, September 24 /TASS/. The duration of education in Russian schools and universities may be reduced so that teenagers can start career guidance earlier. This opinion was expressed by the aide to the Russian president, chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS) Vladimir Medinsky
"Time dictates a reduction in the duration of secondary education, the fact that we have 11 years is an unaffordable luxury. As if we were living in the 19th century. It should be compressed so that later we can enter the sphere of professional training earlier and be competitive, and not start thinking about what to do at 19. Everything will be earlier and faster," he said during a meeting with the regional asset of the RMHS and young people as part of the Arctic Dialogue project in Murmansk.
Medinsky expressed the opinion that the classical five- to six-year education in universities will also become a thing of the past in the coming decades.
"Education will be compressed in time, it will be more specialized, it will be designed for the next 10 years, and then after 10 years it will be necessary to retrain. Those who do not learn something new will simply not be competitive," he noted.
