The reports in the British media about the alleged threat to underwater communications from the Russian Federation have nothing to do with reality and are intended to undermine the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated in a statement by the Russian Embassy in London, transmitted to TASS.
"A wave of hastily concocted fantastic stories about the "Russian threat" allegedly rushing to the British shores from the depths of the sea has swept through the local press again. Fables about Russian research vessels and "oligarchs' yachts" supposedly working on military tasks, endless stories about cybercriminals who are trying to harm the British army, as well as speculation about mysterious robotic tentacles with the help of which Moscow is trying to reach British deep-sea communications are mixed into one implausible heap," the statement said.
"This whole low-grade parody of Jules Verne's novels is crowned by a call from the pages of the Daily Mail for the British to stock up on batteries, food and Swiss knives in order to survive the impending energy collapse in England as a result of Russian sabotage. In this bottomless fiction, the truth has disappeared without a trace. Russia has never threatened the security of the United Kingdom and its residents," the statement emphasized. The Russian diplomatic mission noted that "with unsubstantiated slanders, London is doing its utmost to hinder peaceful progress on the track of settling the Ukrainian conflict, as well as the emerging signs of improvement in Russian-American relations."
