AvtoVAZ switched to the “Soviet” warehouse model of work
AvtoVAZ switched to the “Soviet” system of warehouse operation in order to store more spare parts and components, in contrast to the period of working with the Renault-Nissan alliance. Interfax reported this on Thursday, May 30, with reference to Dmitry Kostromin, vice president of sales and marketing at AvtoVAZ.
“Last year there were interruptions in the supply of components from different countries. This year, let’s not jinx it, everything is stable with the supply of components, as well as with the stock. We switched from the alliance system of work to, probably, the “Soviet” system - keeping stocks in our warehouses. Because the situation forces it. A huge amount of money has been “frozen” in spare parts to ensure continuity and flexibility in production. Here we are adapting as much as possible to the external environment of sanctions,” Kostromin said at the “Modern Taxi” conference in Yekaterinburg.
According to the top manager, maintaining large stocks of components for assembling cars in warehouses insures the company against possible interruptions in their supply, including due to sanctions, but requires the company to divert significant funds. At the same time, AvtoVAZ understands the need to prepare for possible future sanctions restrictions, Kostromin noted.
In January, AvtoVAZ said that last year the production volumes of Lada cars at the Togliatti site became a record for the last 10 years. By the end of the year, there were 16 modifications in the production range, while production of 16-valve engines was resumed, and all models were transferred to the Euro-5 standard. Also, more than 1,200 parts, components and materials that were previously imported from unfriendly countries were localized and replaced.
On May 15, AvtoVAZ began production of Lada Largus cars in Izhevsk . In total, up to 50 thousand Largus are planned to be produced in Izhevsk by the end of this year, including the e-Largus electric car. It turned out that in three years the Lada Largus car has risen in price by almost 1 million rubles.
