US NAVY Mk VI, SWCC:n SOC-R ja CB-90 partio / kuljetusveneiden esittelyä.
Ukrainan laivastolle menevät veneet on varustettu MK 38 Bushmaster tykin sijasta paremmalla MK 44 / 30mm tykkiversiolla.
Ukraine’s First MK VI Patrol Boat Breaks Cover
The hull of the first of eight MK VI patrol boats bound to Ukraine just broke cover. A video published on 24 January by the Port of Tacoma shows its transfer to a SAFE Boats facility for outfitting.
For the record, the United States’ State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Government of Ukraine of up to 16 Mark VI Patrol Boats and related equipment for an estimated cost of $600 million back in
June 2020. The U.S. Department of Defense on 5
January 2021 awarded SAFE Boats International a US$ 19 million order to start production of Ukraine’s first two Mk VI Patrol Boats. Eight months later NAVSEA awarded SAFE Boats International a US$ 84 million contract modification
for the delivery of six more Mk VI patrol boats, with an option for an additional two boats.

edit. löytyihän se syykin eli kallis ylläpitää, koska 2 x dieseliä ja jetit
Myös ohjuksia pyytää eli pelkät konetykit ja kk:t eivät riitä enää. SPIKEilla korjaantuisi, kuten Israelin Super-Dvora Mk III:a, jossa on Typhoon- asetorni (30mm Mk 44 + Spike).
The Mark VIs were deemed “very expensive to maintain” said Major General Tracy King, USMC, Director, Expeditionary Warfare (N95) at the Surface Navy Association 2021 Expo. Repeated inquiries by
Naval News to the U.S. Navy’s Chief of Information (CHINFO) office and the U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in 2021 and 2022 could not gather further information and details as to what, how, and why the Mark VIs were considered “very expensive to maintain.” As written in 19 August 2021,
“The MK VI uses two diesel engines to power waterjets instead of shafts and propellers.” Major General King also mentioned that in wargaming scenarios against peer nations, the MK VIs were deemed
“not really needed (given their small size and limited missile firepower).” The U.S. Marines have practiced firing Stinger short-ranged Air-Defense missiles (SHORADs) and Javelin Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs) from the Mark VIs open decks in an effort to practice Distributed Lethality and Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO).
