No more radio signal: the Bundeswehr drone crashes at Cröchern - drunk men demand a finder's fee, then the police come
It is called the flying eye of the troops, but on Friday a Luna reconnaissance drone crashed near Cröchern. The device was controlled during an exercise on the Altmark military training area near Letzlingen.

At around 4 p.m. on Friday, the drone's radio signal suddenly disappeared. The aircraft, which weighs around 40 kilograms, crashed near Cröchern in a forest area. "There was no personal injury or property damage," reports the press office. And the Bundeswehr was lucky: "Young people who found the drone took a handcart to Colbitz, where it was handed over to the Bundeswehr on the instructions of the police."
As Matthias Lütkemüller reports from the police in Haldensleben, however, those who found the drone were no longer of a young age. "We are investigating three men between 34 and 40 years of age on suspicion of embezzlement and property damage," reported the police spokesman in the Volksstimme interview.
Lütkemüller describes what happened after the drone crashed as follows: The finders - all three are said to have drunk alcohol beforehand - brought the aircraft to Colbitz on private property. "At first you were probably under the assumption that it was a model airplane," said the police spokesman. Only later did they come to the realization that it was material from the Bundeswehr. The group then called there and immediately asked for a higher finder's fee. But nothing came of it.
The Bundeswehr informed the local police. And together, the drone wreck was secured in Colbitz late on Friday evening.
According to the press officer, the drone is "irreparably damaged". In addition, all drones of the type belonging to the Bundeswehr will remain on the ground until the crash has been fully resolved.
