The FSB stopped the import of explosives in icons into Russia from Ukraine

The FSB, together with the Federal Customs Service, blocked the channel of smuggling into Russia from Ukraine through the European Union countries of explosive devices and explosives in Orthodox icons and church utensils. This was reported to TASS by the Public Relations Center (PSC) of the FSB of Russia.
“During the inspection of a car by officers of the Russian FSB at the international automobile checkpoint “Ubylinka” (Pskov region, Latvian-Russian section of the state border), foreign-made explosives were found in a batch of Orthodox icons and church utensils imported into the Russian Federation from Ukraine,” the DSP reported. .
“In total, from the cargo traveling along the route Ukraine - Romania - Hungary - Slovakia - Poland - Lithuania - Latvia - Russia, 27 improvised explosive devices camouflaged in icons and ready for use, 70 kg of industrially produced high-power plastic explosives, 91 electric detonators were recovered and parts of a shot for an RPG-7,” the FSB noted.
The person involved in the crime was detained. The FSB did not clarify information about his identity and role. The investigative department of the FSB Directorate for the Pskov Region is investigating a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal movement of explosives and explosive devices across the border of the Russian Federation by a group of persons by prior conspiracy), which provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
“All organizers and accomplices of the crime, including foreign citizens, will be put on the wanted list and prosecuted in accordance with Russian legislation,” the FSB emphasized.
