Available information and video materials indicate that the Russian forces currently attacking in the Kharkov area consist primarily of infantry. Recordings from surveillance drones show large groups of infantry simply entering Ukrainian territory, occupying the so-called no man's land. On the one hand, the use of infantry to infiltrate enemy lines is nothing new. On the other hand, it indicates that the Russian forces assigned to this operation are quite poor compared, for example, to the units operating in Donbas.
The observed data on equipment losses exceptionally indicate higher losses on the Ukrainian side. In virtually all other operations, the Russians always lost more equipment. Near Kharkov, the attackers lost several transporters on the first day, but then it was difficult to observe heavy equipment on their side. Unfortunately, on the other hand, Russian surveillance drones and attack Lancets effectively isolate the battlefield, destroying Ukrainian artillery and valuable anti-aircraft assets in the rear. Providing protection against this type of attacks is the number 1 need for the Ukrainian side. The best solution would be to disrupt or shoot down reconnaissance drones indicating targets for the Lancets. Let's hope that the Ukrainians and their allies are working hard to find systemic countermeasures, because this is also potentially a problem for NATO forces.
So can a hybrid of a modern drone and Lancet strike system and the so-called "Poor Fucking Infantry" be considered Russia's New Model Army? This is only a journalistic term, so decide for yourself.
