Andriy Lysenko: Ukrainian Armed Forces de-mine Kominternove
Kyiv, 16 March 2015 – Ukrainian Armed Forces have successfully finished the de-mining of Kominternove in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian minesweepers neutralized several mortar mines, 4 tank projectiles, anti-tank shells and 2 missiles from “Uragan” multiple rocket launchers, stated Andriy Lysenko, ATO spokesperson, at a briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “Ukrainian military worked in close collaboration with the OSCE mission in Ukraine to conclude a deal in order to clear up the town,” the ATO spokesperson noted.
Col. Lysenko reported that no cases of artillery use were recorded over the last day. However Russia-backed militants used small arms, grenade launchers, mortars and armored vehicles to instigate armed provocations in the areas on the eastern edges of the Mariupol sector, areas around the Donetsk airport, as well as Mayorsk, Horlivka and Sokilnyky village. The enemy also fired twice at Pisky, using small arms and grenade launchers. Pro-Russian militants also attacked Ukrainian positions near Shyrokyne and Avdiivka after midnight on March 16.
One Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action over the last 24 hours.
Furthermore, Volodymyr Kochetkov-Sukach, a renowned Ukrainian volunteer of the “Aerorozvidka” (Aerial reconnaissance) group was killed yesterday in the area of Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region. “Volodymyr participated in the Revolution of Dignity and was one of the first volunteers who confronted the separatists in Mariupol on May 9, 2014. He used to design UAVs for our military and interpreted aerial reconnaissance intelligence,” Col. Lysenko said.
Col. Lysenko emphasized that militants conduct information provocations as well. Thus they are spreading fabricated information about active combat actions along the entire contact line. “The intelligence reports that Russia continues to supply its proxies via rail. Trains with ammunition arrive daily to the Krasnodon railway station,” Col. Lysenko added. Russian regulars and pro-Russian militants consolidate forces, military equipment and the artillery systems in the area of Shchastya and in the Mariupol sector.
Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, also confirmed that the Russian Federation keeps moving its forces across the Russia-Ukraine border, as well as trains its mercenaries in eastern Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Security Service detained a cameraman of the militants’ TV channel “Novorossiya TV”. Together with other propagandists he filmed stories featuring pro-Russian militant and called to undermine the territorial integrity of the country. Furthermore, Ukrainian operatives discovered clandestine arms storage with weapons and explosives near Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region. The storage contained six kilograms of TNT, two mines, 19 F-1 grenades, two anti-tank grenade launchers and ammunition. The entrance to the storage was mined with Russian-made grenades.

Andriy Lysenko: Russian 20th “humanitarian convoy” invades Ukraine
Kyiv, March 15, 2015. Russia’s 20th so-called “humanitarian convoy” has invaded Ukraine. According to the Russian authorities, more than 80 cars illegally crossed the Russia-Ukraine border via “Donetsk” (Russia) and “Matveyev Kurgan” checkpoints. Part of the convoy heads to Luhansk, while the rest goes to Donetsk. Thus Russia has violated the fundamental norms of the national and international law yet again. Neither the Ukrainian interagency group nor the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross inspected the cargo, stated Colonel Andriy Lysenko, ATO spokesperson, during the press-briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
Col. Lysenko told that pro-Russian militants instigated 34 armed provocations against the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the last day. “The militants used small arms and grenade launchers near Shyrokyne and in the area of the Donetsk airport. An enemy sniper has targeted our troops in the area of Lenynske,” Col. Lysenko said. Russian proxies also fired at Opytne twice after midnight, as well as mortared Ukrainian positions near Shyrokyne.
The ATO spokesperson reported that the militants continue to consolidate their forces and heavy weapons at Artemivsk, Mariupol and Luhansk directions. Moreover, militant saboteurs and intelligence forces became more active in the Donetsk and Luhansk sectors.
One Ukrainian serviceman got wounded, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not suffer any lethal casualties in the last 24 hours.
Col. Lysenko noted that the Ukrainian border guards in Mariupol uncovered a large arms arsenal in one of the local recreation centers. The contents of the arsenal included RPG-18 and RPG-26 grenade launchers, hand grenades, explosive materials and ammunition.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Security Service detained an enemy sniper. He targeted Ukrainian soldiers near the Donetsk airport, as well as corrected fire of machine-gunners, during his time as a “Donetsk People’s Republic” militant.
