On the night of Sunday, August 18, air defense systems were able to repel the UAV attack. However, the debris fell on industrial warehouses in Proletarsk, causing a diesel fuel fire.
At the moment, the flames have not yet been extinguished, and hundreds of people have been called in to fight the fire. At the same time, on August 19, the authorities reported 41 injured rescuers. By the 22nd, the number of injured reached 47 people.
Help from priests
On Wednesday it became known that Archpriest Dmitry and Priest Viktor Fedorov held a prayer service and read the Akathist to the Mother of God before Her icon near the fire. Spiritual assistance is aimed at quickly extinguishing the fire.
Explosion of tanks
Eyewitnesses reported a tank explosion on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, TASS reported that rescuers had extinguished a fire at six diesel fuel tanks.
It is known that at least 100 thousand cubic meters of fuel were damaged. And the area of the fire, according to data as of August 19, exceeded 10 thousand square meters.
The media also reported that the fire could now spread to kerosene tanks, which would increase the area of the fire several times. In addition, if the seal is depressurized, an explosion could occur that would surpass all previous ones in power.
Spreading smoke
Residents of several cities in the region reported that smoke from the oil depot reached them. In particular, this was reported in Shakhty, Novoshakhtinsk and Krasny Sulin.
Moreover, from Proletarsk to Shakhty in a straight line is about 160 kilometers, and to Kamensk-Shakhtinsky - more than 200. But there was no official confirmation of the smoke.
Meanwhile, the oil depot continues to burn and there is no information yet about the possible time frame for extinguishing the fire.
It should be added that the Russian Emergencies Ministry has not provided any information about the situation at the scene or the number of victims since the fire broke out. On August 22, regional authorities also did not report any new data.
