"Don't say that everything is fine with us." Medvedev spoke about problems with payments to SVO fighters. What did he call on the authorities to do?
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev spoke about helping participants in the special military operation (SVO). He spoke about problems with payments to servicemen and called on the authorities to resolve this issue.
Medvedev noted the importance of an honest attitude towards fighters who faced non-payment of funds. He emphasized that those who have state and party powers are able to help participants in military operations.
"Everyone understands how important this area is. When I come to the region, the governors always report to me on how events are developing in this area, what problems there are. And there are problems in fact. And don't say that everything is fine with us, all payments have been received, and so on. We must be honest with both people and the problems that exist.", Dmitry Medvedev.
Why can't SVO participants receive payments?
The media often reports on special operations soldiers and their families who are unable to receive payments. For example, in Yekaterinburg, the wife of a SVO participant lost part of her subsidies due to the cause of her husband's death - the consequences of acute heart failure.
After her husband's death, the Russian woman's three-room apartment was confiscated, and she was forced to move to a one-room apartment. Since the death of the serviceman was not related to injury or mutilation, his relatives were unable to claim payments in full.
Recently, in another Russian region, a wounded soldier was denied payment due to moving. The man lived in the Tyumen region until the end of January 2022. Then he registered in Ingushetia, but in fact continued to live in Tyumen. Subsequently, the Russian signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense, went to the SVO zone, where he was wounded.
Having contacted the social security authorities at his place of residence, the soldier was denied the provision of funds. The officials' response stated that the soldier's residence in Tyumen at the time of his injury had not been confirmed. The soldier appealed to the court, which sided with him.
A participant in a special operation from the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug found himself in a similar situation. The SVO volunteer and holder of the "For Courage" medal was denied payment, citing the lack of necessary documents. Subsequently, the appellate court ordered the social institution to pay the soldier 500 thousand rubles.
New payment system for injuries in the SVO
On November 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin increased the amount of payments to SVO participants who became disabled as a result of injury.
According to the decree of the head of state, such servicemen will be able to receive a one-time payment of four million rubles. This amount will include previously paid compensation for the injury.
The day before, the government approved the amount of a one-time payment for combat injuries and mutilations. Soldiers with severe injuries will receive three million rubles, with minor ones - one million rubles. For other injuries, 100 thousand is provided.
Severe injuries include penetrating skull wounds, damage to the spine and spinal cord, penetrating abdominal wounds, and others. Mild injuries include closed skull injuries, fractures of the ankles, wrist bones, collarbones, dislocations of the patella, and others.
