Medvedev Allows Possibility of Strikes on NATO Military Bases
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with the Al Arabiya TV channel that after Ukraine was allowed to strike deep into Russian territory with Western weapons, NATO entered a war with Russia. The ATACMS and Storm Shadow missile strikes on Russia led to a serious escalation of the conflict. The journalist asked Mr. Medvedev about the possibility of Russia striking NATO military bases in Poland and Romania. He allowed such a development.
“As for specific military facilities, bases in any of the states. At the moment, if the conflict develops according to an escalation scenario, it is impossible to rule out anything, since the states that are members of NATO have, in fact, fully joined this conflict,” the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council said.
On November 19, the Ministry of Defense reported that Ukraine used American ATACMS missiles to strike deep into Russia. Two days later, the Russian army launched a strike with a new medium-range ballistic missile, Oreshnik, against the Ukrainian Yuzhmash plant. Vladimir Putin made a special address on this occasion.
