Putin: Russia agrees with proposals to cease hostilities, but with conditions
MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. Russia agrees with proposals to cease hostilities, but they must lead to long-term peace and eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at a press conference following talks with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.
"We agree with proposals to cease hostilities, but we proceed from the fact that this cessation must be such that it would lead to long-term peace and eliminate the root causes of this crisis," the head of state noted.
On March 11, negotiations were held in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) between the US and Ukrainian delegations. Following their results, a joint statement was published by the parties, according to which Ukraine is ready to accept the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, and Washington will immediately lift the pause in providing intelligence and resume providing assistance to Kyiv.
