The counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army in the south began on June 6 and has been going on for almost a month and a half. During this time, the Ukrainian army liberated 5 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. Currently, the Defense Forces are advancing on three sites in the south and two near the city of Bakhmut, which was destroyed by the Russians.
After a month and a half of fighting, the soldiers of the new 37th marine brigade state that "it won't be quick here", and this offensive is definitely not worth comparing with the Kharkiv offensive last fall.
"They dug, dug, and dug in here out of fear. Plus, they are increasing reserves, and we are also saving people," Andriy, the pilot of the reconnaissance UAV "Fury" explains the situation on the border of the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. The report was shot by: Nastya Stanko and Kolyan Pastyko.
Northern Ukraine, near Chernobyl. Mid of March 2023.Swedes station in the woods. A narrow forest path leads to their camp. Among pines there are a few wooden huts and blindages.
The camp is well hidden and guarded. Besides cameras installed in the forest and guards changing every few hours, a herd of local dogs led by a male called Colonel.
Here Swedes spent about three months, time between their first stay in Bakhmut (17th November – 15th January), and the second, from 17th April. The most important and the best news is they are fine! Though, unfortunately, there were a few wounded. Fighting for Bakhmut, Swede, Bug, Shrek, Pound, McAron, and recently Lans, were harmed.
Their stay in the woods is not only a time of recovery after frontline battle, but also a defence line against drones coming from Belarus. And training. Everyday trips to the training ground for shooting. Their instructor is an experienced soldier and a fine shooter called Cat. It’s typical of him to swear every second word.I and my cameraman Roman Buchko spent a few days with the Swedes.
After heavy battles for Kyiv, the legendary 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhets moved to the east. Since the summer of 2022, the brigade has been defending Vugledar, which the Russians desperately tried to capture, unleashing fierce battles for it. Hromadske journalists got to the brigade's positions at the beginning of July, a period when the situation was relatively stable. According to the military, they "divided" the Russian 155th Marine Brigade and now both sides are on active defense. However, local attempts at assaults are taking place.
"From that side you hear attempts of assault actions. This is called artillery reconnaissance," says the commander of the "Rusik" company, whose infantrymen from the 48th separate rifle battalion hold the line of defense in the Vugledarsky direction.
"Every day we are waiting for other attempts and we are ready for it," Rusik assures.
In this report by Diana Butsko and Mykola Pastuha, we talk about what Vugledar looks like after a year of intense fighting and how the Ukrainian military managed to hold the city.
Incessant artillery fire and storming of positions - this is what the Ukrainian defenders are facing at the positions in Serebryansk Forest. Because of the natural conditions atypical for Donbass - mountains, forests, marshes, the border guards who maintain defense here alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already managed to call this territory the "Ukrainian Vietnam". Another feature of this section of the front is the Siverskyi Donets River. Ukrainian positions are located on both sides, due to which the military has to constantly cross the water artery. In these places, the enemy is especially careful to heal the defenders. In what conditions the defense has to be maintained, what are the advantages of the Ukrainian defense forces and how do the DPSU military respond to Russian attacks - see in the material.
A successful operation took place in the southern direction. Convicted Russians, who were promised to cancel their prison terms for murdering Ukrainians, were once again captured by our soldiers.
It became known about the presence of the enemy in a specific area thanks to a well-conducted reconnaissance. When the operators of the SSO of Ukraine approached the area where the enemy was located, there was fire contact. The Russians were suppressed by small arms fire and forced to retreat.
Seizing the initiative, the soldiers of the Special Operations Forces began to maneuver and blocked the enemy. The enemy was offered to surrender and two servicemen of the Russian unit chose to be captured. The rest of the enemies were destroyed.

Footage of evacuating the wounded and providing them with pre-hospital care after successfully repelling an enemy attack on positions just occupied by Azov.
Today, thousands of medics selflessly perform their duty on the front lines. Under heavy enemy fire on the battlefield, in evacuation crews, at stabilization points and in hospitals, they make titanic efforts to preserve the lives and health of the defenders of Ukraine.
Courage and professionalism, which doctors demonstrate every day, are impressive, causing deep respect and gratitude. In extremely difficult conditions, sometimes working without proper equipment, they create real miracles that instill additional confidence in fighters and give them the drive to continue destroying the enemy, no matter what.
Their sacrifice and selflessness are a true example of boundless love for their Motherland and their people.
"Azov" congratulates doctors on their professional holiday and thanks everyone who, risking his own life, saves the lives of others!
the Russians are densely covering with artillery, the territory on the slopes is carefully mined. Despite this, during the operation, 1,200 meters of Ukrainian territory were liberated, 8 Russians of 83 brigades of the enemy army were captured.
the Russians tried to counterattack, but failed: part of the personnel escaped, the rest were destroyed.

The "Marder" infantry fighting vehicle is in service with the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Battalions of the First Separate Special Purpose Brigade named after Ivan Bohun, continue to carry out combat tasks in the northern and eastern directions. This is daily painstaking and complex work.
2С22 "Bohdana" is a Ukrainian wheeled self-propelled howitzer with a barrel of 155 mm caliber. Considering the considerable range of fire (about 40 km), it is able to "reach out" to those who vainly feel safe. This heavy artillery on the battlefield is a significant argument both for counter-battery combat and the destruction of command posts, equipment and personnel. However, the main element that makes this weapon a real nightmare for the enemy is a team that works every day and makes as many combat missions as necessary for the result.
The engineering divisions of Bohun's brigade perform the most difficult tasks of engineering support: arranging passages in barriers and crossing obstacles, preparing and maintaining movement and maneuver routes, creating barriers, erecting field fortifications with the use of mechanized means. This work is carried out directly near the front edge of the contact line to the sound of artillery - both ours and the enemy's. This requires endurance, ingenuity and skillful hands from the staff. After all, despite the fact that special equipment helps to speed up the process, a lot of work must be done with the help of hand tools.
Take care, don't ignore the air warning signals.

We continue our daily painstaking work to destroy the occupier, we worked in a very strong wind, but despite this, the targets were hit. Enemy logistics are under fire control, daily pressure significantly reduces the enemy's ability to resist during offensive actions of assault groups.
We demonstrate the joint work of the 155-mm brigade artillery and the Mk 19 automatic grenade launcher. This position is located opposite our "Granite", the defense video of which you could see earlier. We don't let the Russians relax, they dig holes for themselves - we fill them up. Glory to Ukraine!
Border guards of the Luhansk border detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Yevgeny Pikus, master 60-mm mortars produced by one of the NATO countries. The weapon is very light and easy to carry. Its main purpose is to cover offensive actions and destroy enemies.
More about the new mortars in the video
The commanders of the mortar units together with their comrades of the 36th separate brigade of marines named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinsky tell how they mastered the 120th Finnish mortar and its effectiveness in combat work.
The mortar is intended for the destruction or suppression by flanking fire of the enemy's manpower and fire means located in the open, in trenches, trenches, etc., as well as the destruction of field fortifications, the destruction or suppression of mortar batteries, the performance of special tasks (illumination or smoky areas of the terrain , creation of ignition sources).
The great steepness of the mine trajectory and the small dimensions of the mortar in the combat position allow it to be placed in deep folds of the terrain and behind shelters, which excludes the possibility of being hit by enemy surface fire.
The 79th brigade has been defending Marynka and its surroundings for more than a year. The Russians regularly throw a lot of forces to capture the city. One of such large-scale offensives was stopped thanks to the confident actions of a paratrooper. At the beginning of the large-scale invasion, a serviceman with the call sign "Grey" joined the army of his own free will and trained as a javelin thrower. He waited a long time to hit his first target and eventually destroyed 7 pieces of equipment in one day.
Operators of the company of attack unmanned aerial vehicles of the 36th separate marine infantry brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinsky talk about the peculiarities of their work and the effectiveness of the use of various types of UAVs.
"Many purposes, many tasks can be performed by kamikaze drones. These are airplanes, copters and a certain list. Reaction time is much faster than aiming artillery, then adjusting it. Well, the efficiency is greater" - continues the operator of the BpLA Ostap.
National Guardsmen are evacuating damaged and abandoned Russian equipment at great risk to their lives, which, after being restored, is striking at their former owners.

Before the full-scale invasion, 26-year-old anesthesiologist Roman Shtibel worked in the pediatric intensive care unit of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional hospital. Last summer, he volunteered in the medical battalion "Hospitaliers". Nowadays, a month saves the wounded at the front, and a month saves newborns in the hospital of his hometown.
"We need to create such a quality of medicine that every Ukrainian, even if he was born with a weight of 500 grams, was raised like a flower," says Roman.
After the full-scale invasion, his brother and dad also went to war - there were no options to run or wait. Roman has a very patriotic family, he is a soldier and knew from an early age that he had to fight for his country.
Roman rescued the wounded in all hot directions. During heavy battles in Bakhmut, he sometimes did not sleep for three days.
We photographed Roman at work in the pediatric intensive care unit and drove with him to the front. They watched how the medics set up the field hospital and how the wounded were taken away from the battlefield

The artillery reconnaissance group, together with the engineers, is demining and preparing fire positions in the previously de-occupied territories of the south. After training, the calculations of the 406th separate artillery brigade named after Colonel-General Oleksiy Almazov enter the position.
According to sappers, sometimes they find unexploded ammunition that flew in, but did not explode. It often happens that mines were left even at the positions where the Russian military was stationed.
Explosive devices found and collected in several areas are being prepared for controlled detonation, because it is dangerous to use them later.
More about this and much more in the plot.

They thought we were theirs and shouted: "Moscow is the capital!" - soldiers of the 3rd OShbr about the assault in the enemy's rear
In this video, we decided to insert not only successful moments, but also those that usually remain "in the basket" and for error analysis. We insist that war is very difficult. And every element of the operation of the unit, from support to the arrival of artillery, is a complex mechanism that does not always work without fail. Enjoy the hits and write in the comments what and how can be improved.
