MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/. The Russian-Belarusian Osvey aircraft will be able to carry up to 19 passengers. The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported this to TASS.
“The parties will develop and put into serial production a multi-purpose twin-engine turboprop aircraft capable of carrying up to 19 passengers and performing a wide range of aviation work, including in remote and hard-to-reach areas. The new aircraft will be certified <...> according to civil airworthiness standards and will be able to work in simple and difficult meteorological conditions,” the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
On April 15, Moscow and Minsk entered into an intergovernmental agreement on the development and organization of production of the Osvey twin-engine light multipurpose aircraft.
As the Ministry of Industry and Trade recalled, the intergovernmental agreement was developed and signed in accordance with the comprehensive interdepartmental program for cooperation between Russia and Belarus in the field of aircraft manufacturing, approved in July 2023.
"The flight performance characteristics will be refined as the development and development stages are completed and are finally recorded in the type certificate data card. At the same time, the developers are faced with the task of ensuring competitiveness with foreign analogues, such as the Cessna 408 SkyCourier, L 410NG, Indonesian Aerospace N-219, DHC- 6,300 Twin Otter,” the ministry noted.
Financing for the project will be provided by Russia and Belarus on a parity basis, but technical re-equipment and creation of new production facilities will be carried out by each state at its own expense.
“As the project is implemented, production plans will be refined both to meet the needs of Russian and Belarusian customers and to ensure export supplies,” the Ministry of Industry and Trade added.
