Bill on the obligation to take the oath of citizenship of the Russian Federation from the age of 14 submitted to the State Duma
MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Members of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, headed by the committee chairman Leonid Kalashnikov, submitted to the chamber of parliament a bill proposing to introduce the obligation to take the oath of citizenship of the Russian Federation from the age of 14. The document is posted in the Duma database.
"In order to increase the patriotic spirit and conscious commitment to comply with the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the legislation of the Russian Federation, the bill proposes to reduce the age of persons required to take the oath from 18 to 14 years," the document states.
The necessary changes are provided for in the law "On Citizenship of the Russian Federation". It is also proposed to establish a norm according to which in the event of refusal to take the oath, the decision on admission to citizenship will be considered invalid.
The decision on admission to citizenship comes into legal force from the day the person takes the oath of citizenship of the Russian Federation. If the oath is not taken by a person within one year from the date of the decision to accept citizenship of the Russian Federation, such a decision is considered invalid from the date of its adoption. "In addition, the draft provisions establish that the decision will be considered invalid in the event of a person's failure to take the oath due to his death," the document states.
