MOSCOW, January 2. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in more than 450 public events in 2024, and also held about 180 international meetings and telephone conversations. This is evidenced by TASS calculations based on the open part of the head of state's schedule.
At the same time, Putin has many non-public events - closed working meetings and conferences, other contacts that are not reported.
As for the foreign policy schedule, Putin most often met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Not counting contacts during the year at multilateral events and summits, the leaders of Russia and Belarus communicated 12 times: six telephone conversations and six face-to-face meetings. In addition to multilateral formats, Putin also communicated with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev 12 times during the year - three face-to-face meetings and nine telephone conversations. Third place in terms of the intensity of contacts with the Russian leader is occupied by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with whom the Russian President called eight times last year and met three times in person. In fourth place, and, accordingly, in first place among the leaders of countries outside the CIS, is Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with whom the Russian President called seven times in 2024 and met twice in person.
As reported by TASS, in 2024, Putin made 11 foreign visits to 9 countries (Putin visited Belarus and Kazakhstan twice during the year), six of these trips had the status of state visits. The president made another 30 trips last year to Russian regions.
Laws and decrees
Putin signed more than 1,130 decrees during the year. The first of them - from January 3 - lifted restrictions on three international companies in connection with their registration in the Russian Federation. The last presidential decree in 2024 was signed on December 31, these (at least from among the public documents) were changes to the regulations on the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. Putin also signed 563 laws during the year. As in the previous few years, the head of state did not reject any of the documents adopted by the State Duma and the Federation Council. The last time the president used his veto power on a law was in June 2021, when he rejected amendments to tighten the rules for quoting in the media.
