Venäjän armeijan tutkijat ovat jatkaneet novitšok-hermomyrkyn kehittämistä salassa sen jälkeen, kun kehittämisohjelma virallisesti lopetettiin, kertovat kansalaisjournalistiryhmä Bellingcat sekä mediat Insider, Radio Svoboda ja Spiegel yhteisessä selvityksessään. Virallisesti Venäjä on väittänyt tuhonneensa kemialliset aseensa.

Vuoden kestäneen selvityksen jälkeen tehdyn raportin mukaan hermomyrkkytutkimusta on jatkettu hajautetusti ja sitä johdetaan Pietarista Puolustusministeriön kokeellisen sotilaslääketieteen instituutista. Osa tutkijoista toimii siviilipuolen laitoksissa.

EU on asettanut pakotteita kahdelle laitoksista, mutta muut ovat onnistuneet toimimaan läntisten tiedustelupalveluiden silmiltä piilossa.

Selvityksen tekijät ovat saaneet käsiinsä puhelutietoja, jotka paljastavat tiiviin yhteistyön tutkimuslaitosten ja sotilastiedustelupalvelu GRU:n yksikön 29155 välillä. Yksikkö on jo aiemmin yhdistetty useisiin novitšokilla tehtyihin myrkytyksiin.

Esimerkiksi Pietarin tutkimuslaitoksen johtaja oli kahden vuoden sisällä kymmeniä kertoja yhteydessä yksikkö 29155:een ja vieraili GRU:n päämajassa Moskovassa hieman ennen entisen kaksoisagentin Sergei Skripalin ja tämän tyttären myrkyttämistä Britannian Canterburyssa toissa vuonna.

Venäjä on kiistänyt, että sillä olisi mitään tekemistä myrkytysten kanssa. Myös Bellingcatin tavoittamat tutkijat kiistivät kaiken tai löivät luuria korvaan.

Novitšokin käyttö on kuitenkin yhdistetty Skripalien myrkytyksen lisäksi myös tuoreeseen oppositiohahmo Aleksei Navalnyin myrkytykseen ja bulgarialaisen aseiden salakuljettajan myrkytykseen vuonna 2015. Esimerkiksi EU perusteli Navalnyin myrkytyksen vuoksi Venäjälle asettamiaan pakotteita sillä, että novitšokia voisi käyttää vain valtiollisen toimijan hyväksynnällä.

Venäjä on allekirjoittanut kemiallisten aseiden kieltosopimuksen, joka kieltää hermomyrkkyjen käytön.

Russian state nationals accused of wielding life-threatening malware specifically designed to tamper with critical safety mechanisms at a petrochemical plant are now under sanction by the US Treasury Department.

The attack drew considerable concern because it’s the first known time hackers have used malware designed to cause death or injury, a prospect that may have actually happened had it not been for a lucky series of events. The hackers—who have been linked to a Moscow-based research lab owned by the Russian government—have also targeted a second facility and been caught scanning US power grids.

Now the Treasury Department is sanctioning the group, which is known as the State Research Center of the Russian Federation FGUP Central Scientific Research Institute of Chemistry and Mechanics or its Russian abbreviation TsNIIKhM. Under a provision in the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, or CAATSA, the US is designating the center for “knowingly engaging in significant activities undermining cybersecurity against any person, including a democratic institution, or government on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation.”

Russian hackers are targeting hundreds of US hospitals and healthcare providers just as the Corona Virus is making a comeback and the US presidential election is in its final stretch, officials from three government agencies and the private sector are warning.

The hackers typically use the TrickBot network of infected computers to penetrate the organizations and after further burrowing into their networks deploy Ryuk, a particularly aggressive piece of ransomware, a joint advisory published by the FBI, Health and Human Services, and the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security agency said.

“CISA, FBI, and HHS have credible information of an increased and imminent cybercrime threat to US hospitals and healthcare providers,” Wednesday evening’s advisory stated. “CISA, FBI, and HHS are sharing this information to provide warning to healthcare providers to ensure that they take timely and reasonable precautions to protect their networks from these threats.”

Security firm Mandiant said much the same in its own notice, which provided indicators of compromise that targeted organizations can use to determine if they were under attack.

Mandiant Senior VP and CTO Charles Carmakal said in an email to reporters that the targeting was “the most significant cyber security threat we’ve ever seen in the United States.” He went on to describe the Russian hacking group behind the plans as “one of most brazen, heartless, and disruptive threat actors I’ve observed over my career.” Already several hospitals have come under attack in the past few days, he said.

Justiin tässä oon funtsinu pari kk että jos löis hanskat tiskii töissä parin vuoden sisällä ja lähtis kokeileen pääseekö sisään muukalaislegioonaan vielä kun ikä sallii kokeilla niin saahan sen arvata että ryssän wagnerit sieläkin vastaansa saa kun afrikkaan siinä kuitenki jossain kohtaa tie käy :LOL:

The Ministry of Defence said the cables, which are "vital to the global economy and communications between governments", are at "risk of sabotage" due to "submarine warfare".
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said the new ship will protect critical national infrastructure, including the cables.
The announcement comes ahead of next week's defence review.
Hundreds of thousands of miles of undersea cables circle the globe, providing internet and communications links between nations and continents.
According to the MoD, the new Multi Role Ocean Surveillance ship will be fitted "with advanced sensors and will carry a number of remotely operated and autonomous undersea drones which will collect data".
The vessel, staffed by 15 people and due to come into service in 2024, will carry out operations in both UK and international waters.
The MoD added it will also "be able to support with other defence tasks, including exercises and operations in the Arctic which will become an increasingly contested area".
