Voisiko joku selittää, mistä on kyse? F-35:ä ei saa arvostella? Miksi? Kyse ei ole edes suomalaisesta lentokoneesta.

Osittain tuossa varmaan on takana rahoituksen kalastelua siihen uuteen koneeseen, mutta yllättävistä paikoista fanipoikia putkahtelee.

Vanhemmissa näkemissäni uutisissa parin-kolmen vuoden takaa on juttua, kuinka Hornet lentää USMC:n aktiivipalveluksessa vuoteen 2029 ja reservilaivueissa jopa vuoteen 2030 asti. Samalla Harriereista luovuttaisiin etuajassa jo 2025.
Tätä silmällä pitäen merijalkaväki alkoi repiä varastoista vanhoja Horneteja ja palauttaa niitä lentokuntoon. Nyt on taas pyörretty päätökset ja "Hornetien täytyy mennä". Millainenkohan lienee tilanne tätä nykyä? Mahtaisiko viimeinen Hornet palvella johonkin 2020-luvun puoliväliin?
Entäpä laivasto? Ovatko Hornetit jättämässä laivaston jo ihan lähivuosina? Tällaisen vaikutelman ainakin sain pari päivää sitten julkaistun uutisen perusteella. Wikipediasta kun lunttasin, niin legacy-Horneteja näyttäisi olevan käytössä enää aggressor-laivueissa sekä neljällä muulla laivueella: VFA-34, VFA-37, VFA-83 ja VFA-131.
