Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) jet training is facing low aircraft serviceability, with only 30% of L-39 trainers sent to repair plants for maintenance returning to their units on time,
Izvestia reported on 4 September. The daily learned from Russian Ministry of Defence sources that the serviceability of more modern Yakovlev Yak-30 advanced jet trainers is slightly higher but still significantly below the required level.
This is seriously affecting the quality of cadet training and, according to
Izvestia , recent measures ordered by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu will not solve the serviceability problems by March 2020 when flying training resumes.
