In Norway, an employee of the Arctic University of Tromsø is on trial, who is accused of spying for Russia. Moscow angrily denied the accusations, calling them spy mania, but The Insider and Bellingcat were able to confirm that the detained "professor" belonged to the GRU.
The revealed facts from the biography of the spy once again proved that there is trouble with conspiracy in the GRU. To find out that the "professor" of the Norwegian University is not the Brazilian Jose Assis Giammaria, but Mikhail Mikushin from Yekaterinburg, it did not take long to dig under him.
For example, he registered his university account using mailboxes and rambler. Moreover, his mail address literally translates from Portuguese as "Misha the invader." Our Stirlitz used his real name as a password.
At the age of 26, Mikushin moved to Moscow, where he lived in an officer's dormitory at the Military Diplomatic Academy of the GRU and studied to become an intelligence officer.
In 2011, Mikushin went to study at a Canadian university under the guise of a Brazilian citizen, but continued to visit Russia regularly. In 2015, for example, he returned to renew his driver's license.
In Canada, Mikushin was engaged in "research" work and even published in scientific journals. So, in 2019, his article was published on the need to create new military bases in the Arctic. In addition to studying in Canada, he was engaged in political campaigning in social networks for the New Democratic Party.
In 2021, Mikushin arrived in Norway at the University of Tromsø, including to study "hybrid threats". Just a month ago, in Vilnius, he took part in a training on "hybrid warfare". Among other things, a very topical topic was discussed there on how to respond in the event of sabotage at the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
Mikhail Mikushin was detained by the Norwegian authorities on 25 October. Now the question of his deportation is being decided. However, deportation to Russia will hardly be possible if Mikushin is not recognized as a citizen of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
