The third day of the combat readiness inspection of the Belarusian Armed Forces: what’s known at the moment.
The inspection began on March 11. The following units are known to be involved in the inspection:
• Units of the 1st Separate Mechanized Battalion of the 19th Mechanized Brigade (military unit 14398) continued the march to the area of the drills. On March 12, it became known that one of the units of the Belarusian Armed Forces would conduct drills on the territory of Ashmiany district (bordering Lithuania) as part of the combat readiness inspection. It’s possible that Ashmiany district will be the final destination for the military cargo train with the battalion’s equipment.
• Another unit is involved in the inspection – the 4th Separate Tank Battalion of the 19th Mechanized Brigade (military unit 22092). The Belarusian MoD published footage of the formation of a military cargo train with the battalion’s equipment at Zaslonava station (Lepel district). We have previously assumed the participation of this unit. It’s possible that the battalion will be redeployed to one of the areas bordering Lithuania or Latvia. For example, as part of the drills in September 2023, the battalion was redeployed to Verkhniadzvinsk district.
Units of the 19th Mechanized Brigade march to the assigned areas in a combined manner (as part of military cargo trains and by road).
Thus, units of the 19th Mechanized Brigade are involved in the combat readiness inspection. The brigade is part of the Northwestern Operational Command of the Ground Forces, whose task is to cover the Lithuanian and Latvian directions.
The scale of the inspection still doesn’t allow us to talk about threats it may currently pose to the countries neighboring Belarus.
Together with the combat readiness inspection:
• inspection of the territorial defense of Homiel region began;
• military training sessions with reservists began in a number of military units;
• drills with the territorial defense of Voranava district will begin on March 14.

The move sends a clear political message, but some experts downplay its military significance.
