In Kuzbass, 17 coal enterprises have already stopped working
Moscow. August 26. INTERFAX.RU - In the Kemerovo Region, 17 enterprises have already stopped working due to the crisis in the coal industry, the region's governor Ilya Seredyuk said at a press conference.
"The coal industry is currently experiencing (difficulties - IF) due to Western sanctions, due to the decline in world prices (...) As for the closed enterprises, today there are 17 coal enterprises, and not all of these 17 enterprises are closed forever," Seredyuk said, without specifying which specific production facilities he was talking about.
"Half of those that closed have definitely been mothballed, and the workers have been redistributed to (other - IF) holding enterprises (which include the closed production facilities - IF), because we have holding structures that have several enterprises under their control," the governor added.
He recalled that there are 151 coal mining and enrichment enterprises operating in the region.
In April 2025, Seredyuk stated that 9 coal mining enterprises had suspended operations in Kuzbass (as of the beginning of the year, there were eight). Another 20 companies, as of April, were in the "red zone".
