"To give birth or not to give birth is up to the woman." Volodin on the ban on childfree propaganda
MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. The bill on the ban on public propaganda of the refusal to have children (the so-called childfree ideology), adopted in the third reading, will allow women to decide for themselves and without pressure whether to have children. This opinion was expressed by the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
At a plenary session, the State Duma adopted in the third, final reading the bill on the ban on public propaganda of the refusal to have children - the so-called childfree ideology. The dissemination of information promoting the refusal to have children is prohibited on the Internet, in the media, in films and advertising.
"We are adopting this law for the birth of children, for large families. For each woman to make a decision independently, so that no one puts pressure on her. And we must create conditions for having more children. This is the meaning of the decision being adopted," Volodin noted at the plenary session of the Duma.
He emphasized that the law has caused a stir in society. "It is being discussed. There are critics, primarily from abroad. They are trying to do everything to ensure that our country does not exist, to stop the development of Russia," Volodin noted. He added that this is not an ordinary document, but "a law on the future of the state." "This is a fateful law, and for any state that wants to be such in the future," the State Duma speaker emphasized. According to him, the existence of the country for "many millennia to come depends on whether children are born or not."
"To give birth or not to give birth, it is up to the woman, her relatives, who she wants to consult with or not. But you and I must understand that without children there will be no country. And the ideology that they are trying to impose, promoting the refusal to have children, will lead to the fact that they will stop having children. Because the youth will grow up in an environment where they will be told, hammered into them, creating all sorts of phobias or concepts of a wonderful future, [promoting] the refusal to have children. This should not happen," Volodin emphasized.
