Unfortunately, there will be bad news from Ukraine.
In the last 72 hours, a disaster occurred on the Ukrainian side on the front between Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk. Local sources tell me that the situation north of Pokrovsk is worse than the Deep State is reporting. This is confirmed by numerous Ukrainian and Russian sources, reports from the area, and information published by local residents. This information is also confirmed by a number of analysts and journalists.
There are many indications that the Russians are entering an operational space practically free of Ukrainian troops.
In recent days, Kyiv has deployed special forces here, including several assault units and air forces, which means the situation must have been truly dire for such a move to be made.
The Russians have managed to definitively break the front in the area of responsibility of the Ukrainian 33rd Mechanized Brigade. This is no longer in dispute.
In some places, Russian forces advanced 12 to even 17 kilometers in just 2-4 days. Currently, the Russians have occupied the villages of Vilnius, Kucheriv Yar, Zoloty Kolodyaz, Rubizhne, Vesele, and Hruzke. This is already confirmed to me.
The Ukrainians have already stopped road traffic on the route from Dobropole to Kramatorsk, as the Russians have de facto reached it. They may have even crossed it today and are continuing their advance towards Novoyavlenka.
Currently, Russian reconnaissance groups have been seen in the area of the villages of Hannivka, Novovodyane, Novotroyitsky, and Novomykolayivka.
The Ukrainians are hastily evacuating a number of villages in the area of Dobropole and south of the line between Starovarvariivka, Serhiivka, and Druzhkivka.
If the Ukrainians don't commit numerous reserves, at least two brigades in size, to the fight here within 48 hours, the situation for Ukrainian forces defending the entire sector from Oktyabrska through Konstantynivka to Chasiv Yar could become very dire.
This is the largest crisis on the Ukrainian front since the battles at Rubizhne and Ocheretyne. I haven't seen such a dire situation since then.
Why are the Russians so successful? Because a number of Ukrainian fortifications and minefields were not manned by infantry.
We will likely soon witness the first maneuver battles on the Ukrainian front in a long time. The Ukrainians must close this breach—otherwise, we may even face a battle for the approaches to Kramatorsk sooner than everyone imagined.
