The Orenburg Gas Plant stopped receiving raw gas from Kazakhstan due to a drone strike
The Orenburg Gas Processing Plant stopped receiving raw gas from the Karachaganak field due to an emergency at the facility, the Kazakh Ministry of Energy press service reported. Russia has not yet reported the extent of the damage caused by the overnight drone strike on the plant, nor has it provided information on the restoration timeline, the Kazakh ministry noted.
The overnight strike did not affect Kazakhstan's gas supply system, the ministry reported. An assessment of potential losses and further actions will be announced later.
Ukraine attacked the Orenburg plant for the first time overnight. A fire broke out at the facility, but there were no injuries among workers, according to Orenburg Region Governor Yevgeny Solntsev. This gas processing plant is the world's largest gas chemical complex; until January 1, it was involved in gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine.
